Hi Mel.
I'll start the ball rolling.
They look short - Japanese?
Mitsubishi Ki-2?

MReyn24050 15th Sep 2012 23:05

MReyn24050 16th Sep 2012 18:40

Graeme. Is it for real or just a mock up? That tail rotor looks really ineffective.

evansb 16th Sep 2012 18:49

Indeed. No intakes, vents or exhaust visible either. Background forest looks nordic.

Noyade 16th Sep 2012 21:35

I believe it's real Mel. Flew in the early nineties and powered by reaction motors using Hydrogen Peroxide as fuel. Most of the flight testing was carried out in Switzerland, a place called San Vittore (see below), but the photo above shows the pre-production prototype prior to shipping at Newport News, Virginia.

That will be the Atlas Rocket Helicopter Swiss Copter then. That tail rotor looks so ineffective.

Noyade 16th Sep 2012 22:12

That will be the Atlas Rocket Helicopter Swiss Copter then.
Done! :ok:

I believe the author Mike Spick had some involvement in the project.

Your control mate.

MReyn24050 16th Sep 2012 22:37

Your clue helped. I was not looking for a real flyer I was convinced that the first picture showed a mock up. Good challenge Graeme. :ok:
Here is the next:-

Fighter?
British?
Hawker Hornbill?

MReyn24050 16th Sep 2012 23:54

You are also on a roll Graeme. Hornbill it is .:ok:
You have control.

Noyade 17th Sep 2012 00:23

Just lucky mate. Actually, I was thinking it might have been the Saro fighter based on your flying-boat cockpit hunt.

Must leave you now, heading to work. Cheers Mel. :ok:

Should be easy?....

MReyn24050 17th Sep 2012 11:56

Interesting challenge Graeme. An aircraft with "ventral cabane struts" similar to the Bristol Fighter and Bristol Tourer aircraft. Is this from the USA?

MReyn24050 17th Sep 2012 14:39

The Vickers 141 perhaps?

Noyade 17th Sep 2012 20:36

The Vickers 141
Well done mate! Sorry for the delay. :ok:
Your control Mel.

MReyn24050 17th Sep 2012 23:21

MReyn24050 18th Sep 2012 12:37

You are thinking correctly. It is the Letov S328.
You have control.

Noyade 18th Sep 2012 20:36

Thanks Mel. I'll make it open house for the time being. Cheers.
