HP, I took a look at your interesting site and will add this: The challenge is not roadable by the definition apparently used in your site (it is not mentioned there). But there is a road aspect to its design :8.
Edit: Good morning RR and skytrain :). |
Morning RD. This one is proving elusive. The usual Aerofiles searches do not seem to have got me anywhere. Plenty of "pusher's" without photo's but after research none seem to match the challenge :ugh: At least am at home today so not tied to coffee breaks!
|
There are a couple of pictures elsewhere, and text enough to Giggle - both in Aerofiles and elsewhere…
Truly funny: I Giggled some of its features and got almost identical looking aircraft, only 30 years younger. |
Morning all. :)
I agree with Ken.:uhoh: Can't get Aerofiles search to work at all. Anyone know the secret? |
Morning Mate :)
Search Aerofiles via Giggle by typing the search string and then 'site:aerofiles.com' We have had another (one of the total of two) from the same builder as a challenge before. |
Although the undercarriage looks fixed is it retractable? Just wondering if this is an amphibian?
|
Not amphibian - fixed. Only one built. But there was an idea to …..
|
But there was an idea to ….. ...make it a carplane... |
…. to develop the idea to this direction……
…. amphibian…. |
Anybody for a good string?
|
Anybody for a good string? |
'direction amphibian site:aerofiles.com'
And then, just for the kicks of it, Giggle 'icon a5' and go to Images. |
Loving WR-2?
|
Aaa there you are Mate!
Loving-Wayne WR-2 :ok: The Missing Link between Ascender and ICON A5. Over to you :D:D:D |
Now that WAS elusive, and no way without your clues mate.
Please stand by for an equally elusive one.... |
This will be worthy of a round of applause....

Oh bugger ... Mexican?
|
Morning Martin. :)
Nope. |
Now that WAS elusive, and no way without your clues mate. |
B..d. ;)
|
Vulcan American Moth
|
Whatever that is - no.
|
No, wrong tail.
Whatever that is It was the 60 HP Le blond 5 cylinder radial engine that interested me….. |
I have no idea which engine the challenge has.
|
So it is not Rearwin Junior, either?
|
Sadly not.
|
I have no idea which engine the challenge has |
It is indeed American Ken, but it is, perhaps unusually, not in Aerofiles at all.
However, the one available photograph of it is on the web. I was reluctant to post this one, but after Regs' last one I decided I would. You know me - clues will be forthcoming soon. ;) |
Early 1930's?
|
No date available, but you must be close.
One built, which is now archived in a certain American museum. It's listed in the US aircraft registrations site. The company was founded by three people and was based at San Leandro California. |
Is it the Sierra BLW-2, from 1929?
The picture I have is identical, but it is in Aerofiles. |
I did say it would be worthy of a round of applause.
:D:D:D:D All yours. :ok: |
PS - missed it in Aerofiles. :\
Off teaching for a while. |
Thanks David. Nice one - when you said it wasn't in Aerofiles I went for my books - and found the same photo in one of them!
Here we go: http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...r/7c6a6568.jpg |
As you are at home, why not play this a bit different. Honestly, I don't even know where to start with this one. So what would you recommend me to do first?
I mean, I can list attributes that are pretty obvious, but what then? I have nothing printed out here. |
Let's move this one along. American, in Aerofiles. Picture is there too.
Edit...our post's crossed Reg...but looks like we both had the same idea! |
OK American, in Aerofiles. The tail fin looked a bit that way.
Engine: 9-cylinder radial, with sort of cowling. From 1923 - 1935… Problem with Aerofiles is that the data is in pages containing quite many links to pictures, and once you have a hit, all pictures form that page come out as images in Giggle Image. Is there a work-around? |
7 cyclinder radial...one aircraft built of this particular model (modified from an earlier model), appears in photo's both with and without the cowling.
1923-35 will cover it! Problem with Aerofiles is that the data is in pages containing quite many links to pictures, and once you have a hit, all pictures form that page come out as images in Giggle Image. Is there a work-around? |
Artnoon Ken.
I'll keep you company also. |
Now there are two of you, another clue....just the one built, which was modified from a very similar looking variant. Pictures of both variants are in Aerofiles.
