Speechless you are correct (and quick too!). How did you know?
Pronounced "Deepham" Green, so only the one point, I'm afraid. Next! |
So things won't go quite so long...
Indonesia Very busy airport served by several domestic carriers plus the military and the Godly. Cubs2jetshttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...g?t=1199317216 |

Kendari, possibly, or Iskandar
|
No, neither of those.

Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, Pekanbaru, Riau ?
|

Cubs2jets |
I note cars are driving on the left.
|
Balikpapan?
BSD. |
I think BSD has it!
Cubs2jets |
Off to work now, 6 day trip. If I've got it, it will have to be open house.
I'll take my camera, and see if I can cme up with something new. Cubs2Jets - great name by the way, have you been there? BSD. |
Sorry for the condition of the print, has been on my desk for years. It's only orange juice splashes, not blood, honest.

Just to confirm.. BSD has the right answer.. Sepinggan (Balikpapan), Indonesia.
|
Is that a winch at the far end of the (narrow) runway, or your dinner :}
NB John: I rest my case! |
TM, not a winch.:yuk:
|
Not a glider then, can I opt for a parachute centre?
Based upon the cabin appearance of the light aircraft on the ground and the concrete disc (LZ?) UK > Lincs or East Anglia, based upon a lack of terrain. |
I think it is further north. Cark maybe?
|
Just checked Google earth and I think you may be right.
|
Flap 40 has it, Cark, Grange over sands.
|
Thanks. I'll have to open house this one as I'm in the middle of switching isp so have not got access to my webspace.
|
Ok, here's an old photo.

If it's Open House, may I offer the following:
[edit: cross-posted..I'll post later] |
What Aerodrome Latest List of Aerodromes published to take.
Here is the latest list. Please check and advise of any corrections required.
http://www.geocities.com/artificer35...0108.htm?20085 Mel |
That's an excellent list, MReyn...I've downloaded it as an Excel spreadsheet, and a .txt file (both downloadable and more easily searchable).
Thanks for your hard work producing the list, and very well done for adding the page on here where it can be found. Russell. |
You are more than welcome. As a matter of interest the following are all drawing as leaders in identifying the airfield presented on "What Aerodrome" :-Tiger_mate,evansb and Flap40 each with 22 identified.*
Provided I keep it up to date every so often it is not too difficult to maintain,I try to update the list each month. Mel *As an after thought I hope that doesnt put people off taking part. If so I will not monitor such information in future. |
Indeed. I've been a lurker throughout the whole thread, but have only recently taken an active part.
Let's keep it up, it's one of the better threads on PPRuNe. IMHO, of course. |
Baghdad - just after it opened and before the terminal was completed.
|
The list quotes 'Amsterdam Sciphol Holland' ...
Firstly it's Schiphol and secondly there ain't no such country as Holland :) |
The list quotes 'Amsterdam Sciphol Holland' ... Firstly it's Schiphol and secondly there ain't no such country as Holland Mel |
Both are correct. Schiphol lies in the province of North Holland which is part of the Netherlands.
|
KeMac has it. Bagdad in 1967
|
|
Seychelles?
|
Captain Airclues has it in one. The picture was taken by my mother on a flight from Diego Suarez in the latter half of 1970 while the airport was still under construction. I was there that December and I remember a US Albatros (0-17163) landing in the sea beside the runway and taxying up to the apron afterwards with mail and supplies for the US Satellite tracking station there.
Over to you Captain Airclues. |
