On reflection........... Finningley, now Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster.
There were Vulcans based there and keeping us awake when I visited as an ATC Cadet for a weeks camp, so many years ago. |

The Vulcan pic was taken during the airshow in the late 80s before it was retired from service and the Bulldog photo was taken in 1989 when the runway was being resurfaced. The ATC vehicle was typical of Training Command airfields. |
I remember 3 Vulcans taking off in quick succession while I was at Finningley I think in the Easter of 1969.....I can still EXACTLY remember that sound......and I also rememebr the Vulcan ALMOST getting it very wrong on a low swoop over the car park into Greenham Common IAT.
I need a few hours to hunt tomorrow morning. |
