Thanks AAO. Here is the next mystery aerodrome:

Time for a clue: Little trace of the base remains.

John Hill 12th Aug 2008 20:31

What little road traffic I can see appears to be on the left side of the road so my hazard is that this field is in the UK!

Tempsford 12th Aug 2008 21:06

Fowlmere perhaps?

aviate1138 12th Aug 2008 21:30

20 quid it isn't Fowlmere but how about Stradishall?

evansb 12th Aug 2008 21:35

Sorry, not Fowlmere nor Strandishall. The air base is not in Great Britain nor on the European continent.

Speedpig 12th Aug 2008 22:10

Somewhere in India perhaps?
The accommodation at the top looks a bit Raj.

Warmtoast 12th Aug 2008 22:10

With so many seaplanes and with launching ramps I suggest:

Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii

evansb 13th Aug 2008 00:16

Sorry, not India. Not Ford Island, Hawaii.

ICT_SLB 13th Aug 2008 04:06

Pensacola, Florida? I seem to remember a John Wayne movie set in the 30s & 40s where all flying from there was in floatplanes. They do look a lot like N3Ns.

evansb 13th Aug 2008 04:11

Sorry not Florida. Not in North America.

John Hill 13th Aug 2008 05:28

I think that truck making the left hand turn towards the Officer's Club is an early model Nissan, how about Japan?

chevvron 13th Aug 2008 11:56

Eastchurch, Hawkinge or Andover?

evansb 13th Aug 2008 14:02

Sorry, not in Japan. Not in Asia.

S'land 13th Aug 2008 17:10

Rose Bay, NSW?

evansb 13th Aug 2008 18:27

Sorry, not in Australia.

twochai 13th Aug 2008 19:39

I don't see a reply to Chevvron's post:

Eastchurch, Hawkinge or Andover?

The layout certainly loooks to me like that of Andover, at least as it was circa 1970?

Already answered in post #4122

"The air base is not in Great Britain nor on the European Continent".

Must be South Africa then?

John Hill 13th Aug 2008 21:56

""The air base is not in Great Britain nor on the European Continent"".

Not on the European Continent, hmmmm, Ireland? Some island in Europe?
