cringe 5th Nov 2005 18:37

Is it a Me-262 ?

forget 5th Nov 2005 18:43

Yes it is Cringe. Well done. Are you by chance an Aviation Museum Curator? Specialisation - instrument panels.:D

cringe 5th Nov 2005 19:14

I wish. :D I bow to the real experts around here.

A quick one:

Saab Dastard 6th Nov 2005 12:17

Where are the throttles?

Catalina?

cringe 6th Nov 2005 12:23

No, it's not a Catalina.

Mr_Grubby 6th Nov 2005 12:31

Some sort of Grumman sea plane but not a Mallard.
??

Clint.

cringe 6th Nov 2005 13:12

Neither a Grumman nor a seaplane.

pigboat 6th Nov 2005 13:18

Douglas DC-5. The throttles are on the cockpit roof. ;)

cringe 6th Nov 2005 13:42

It's one of the four KLM's DC-5s. Well done, pigboat.

pigboat 6th Nov 2005 18:43

Thank you cringe, please post a photo in my stead.
Oh, and check your PM's. :)

cringe 6th Nov 2005 20:09

A pic on pigboat's behalf (he's the quiz master):

Tim Inder 6th Nov 2005 20:40

Hi- separated fom my cockpit photos atm, so apologies for ducking out over the weekend.
I should be reunited tomorrow, so in anticipation of that, is it an A-26 Invader?

forget 6th Nov 2005 20:50

Photographs! Cockpit photographs! Didn't you read the rules? Every answer must be direct from memory. At least that's what I've been doing,;)

By the way Tim, your prototype Jaguar was, indeed, 'early sixties'.

Tim Inder 6th Nov 2005 21:16

What I meant was that I was due to post a pic on Friday, but was unable as I am separated from my sources. My artistic skills aren't up to drawing one from memory! :)

By the way, I think that the Jaguar first flew in 1968, with the one I posted - E02 in early 1969. Though I'll have a check on Monday a.m.

pigboat 6th Nov 2005 21:16

Tim, nope, not a Douglas product.

forget 6th Nov 2005 21:56

Let's see how wrong I can be on this one, having just returned from the 'local' Sunday night brains trust.

High wing Twin piston.
'East European'
Early Mid fifties.
Armed Military.
Maritime.
Possibly amphibian.

.....and still flying by the look of the Dynotapes - and the new wiring on the centre console.

CoodaShooda 6th Nov 2005 22:24

How about

High wing twin radials
North American
Late 1930's but still flying
Initially military/latterly all sorts of things
Long range amphibian
Close to the heart of a certain Music Quizmeister ;)

pigboat 6th Nov 2005 22:50

Hmmmm....lessee..

High wing,
Twin radials (also twin turbines)
North American,
Military originally (the piston version)
Not an amphib.

Sorry Cooda, not the one yer thinking of.
;)

CoodaShooda 7th Nov 2005 06:02

:( Damn
Always had you pegged for a Grumman fan :E

ORAC 7th Nov 2005 06:34

Might still be a Grumman, S-2 Tracker?

Tim Inder 7th Nov 2005 07:40

I'll go along with ORAC and go for one of the Tracker/Tracer/Trader family - not that many aircraft have such prominent windscreen wipers!
(unless it is in fact a car!!)

BEagle 7th Nov 2005 08:42

See http://www.s2tracker.com/piston_turbine.htm and all will be revealed!

MReyn24050 7th Nov 2005 08:56

Tracker but built by DH Canada Tracker CS2F-2

ORAC 7th Nov 2005 09:09

Someone else can have my go, ain´t got no photos.

Tim Inder 7th Nov 2005 11:12

Ok ORAC, here's a part of one, if it hasn't gone by say 4 p.m. I'll post another pic and so-on.

forget 7th Nov 2005 11:25

.........Gannet.

Errr. With a brake chute? Maybe not:O

ORAC 7th Nov 2005 11:58

Lightning. God´s motorcar.

Had a couple of trips (T5 obviously), one low level. Fishbowl conditions, pilot moving head between scope mask and outside, alt showing 99,700ft. Hand going from radara sidestick controller to throttle, to map where he was plotting a tgt track based on the GCI GG broadcast. He was maintaining height using the size of the shadow on the water...... :ooh:

ORAC 9th Nov 2005 11:24

So, where´s Tim Inder gone?......

Tim Inder 9th Nov 2005 14:26

I haven't gone anywhere - it's not my turn!!

I think I've run out of cockpit photos too for the meantime, so if anyone else wishes to step up, feel free...

ORAC 9th Nov 2005 14:57

But you posted the last one and aint said if I got it right or not.

If I did, someone else can post one.....

forget 9th Nov 2005 15:59

cringe 9th Nov 2005 19:42

Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter ?

LOMCEVAK 9th Nov 2005 20:46

Canadair CL 415T waterbomber?

forget 9th Nov 2005 21:12

Cringe is there again! KC-97G Stratotanker.

I should have mentioned, beautiful cockpit restoration at Carolinas Air Museum -

http://www.ruudleeuw.com/carolinasairmuseum.htm

cringe 9th Nov 2005 21:38

Hi, forget. :) If it's my turn, here's the next pic:

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b142/cringe_/unk8.jpg

Tim Inder 9th Nov 2005 23:44

OK,
Twin cockpit (can see the seat back of the front seat)
Tubular framed, fabric covered construction
Aerobatic (g-meter)
I'm guessing European (or damn-fast for an open cockpit - ASI is redlined at 360!!) and the VSI looks very much like a German variometer...

Is it a Bücker Jungmann?
Or was is Jungmeister? (no, I think that only has one seat)

pigboat 10th Nov 2005 01:44

Pitts S-2?

cringe 10th Nov 2005 05:41

Well done Tim, it is a Jungmann.

Gainesy 10th Nov 2005 12:05

Just loved the "Remove Before Flight" on the Lightning's ladder.:)

ORAC 10th Nov 2005 12:27

Probably added after a certain Wg Cdr Eng´s little trip..... ;)
