Pity - it was just difficult to place amongst all the

N along way from Popham
yes - not the usual post WW2 shack seen in most European small airfields...............
Certainly north - not east. You are advised (but not required) to call ahead when landing here but it's not for any aviation reason. No regular commercial flights
since I've provided trees I might as well add lamp posts
Neither Alaska nor the Pacific NW - no - there are no military types based here either
It may have been British for a short while.................

" The airfield itself or the general area, maybe in 1812?"
yes the war of 1812-15 and there were battles or actions fought immediately (2 miles) south and north of the airstrip. I'd guess the strip is on the flat and therefore not in an area of any military significance.

Hmmm. I’m wondering if your clue refers to the Battle of Plattsburgh bay.
So, if it is the right battle, it took place on Lake Champlain. To the east lies Vermont, to the West, New York.
Let’s try Burlington Vermont (KBTV) though the tail fin and rudder of what looks like a Heron/Dove/Saunders ST-27 would be an unusual visitor there.

Not Vermont - as in post #3750 "Certainly north - not east. "
Canada....?
