This reddish tarmac makes me think of Germany where some of the highways (Autobahn) have been paved with this reddish quarts There is also a geographic layer “Rotliegendes” in Europe.

Apologies, I checked Dutch Wiki and it said Rotliegend or Rotliegendes.
But what do I know I only saw the
layer mentioned in drilling plans on rigs on the North Sea.
