Thanks, Mel.
I would love to know what that fifth Hercules was doing down there! GINMF in this instance.
Do you happen to know? Is it as simple as just a means of ferrying spare engines?
Meanwhile, I'll have a look round for another challenge!

Nothing exciting Nacluv. Just as you say. The publication from which the photograph came from states that it is a spare engine installed in the bomb bay using the bomb crutches for transportation purposes.

How prosaic! I was hoping for something much more secret squirrel!
I'm running out of time tonight, so I am reluctantly declaring 'open house'. I'll try to find something ASAP but if anyone has one to hand then please be my guest.

Thanks Graeme.
I think the engine in your challenge photograph is a Rolls-Royce Eagle VII or IX.

Both of these engines together with the Napier Lion was installed in separate versions of the Vickers Vulcan. However I cannot quite get my head around the apparent thickness of the wing that the guy is standing on.

Evening Mel.
Some very similar looking machines there! Your Van Berkel is in the right country.
It's Dutch. Very famous manufacturer. But according to Wiki, the only country that used them was Portugal...
Cheers.
