Noyade,

It doesn't do anything, but stuff comes out of it!

LM,

Yes.

(I was going to post a slightly expanded view which would have eased things significantly, but I have a feeling LM might be on the right track; whether someone beats him to it is anyone's guess).

Nothing along the Merlin line, I'm afraid, Krakatoa....

I'll try to add another image when I find time today.

You may suggest that...

Your suggestion would be a good one.

Steve, it does indeed... Because it is one. The one on East Kirkby's C47, in fact.

You have control.

Thanks, TheiC, I was around Dakotas for a fair few years so it leapt out at me.

Anyone who's flown or worked on these aircraft will recognise this picture instantly.

Well, I dare say it's either the pilot's door latch on a B-N Islander, or Trislander, or...

Something that looks identical to pilot's door latch on a B-N Islander, or Trislander.

How could I forget... That awful realisation that you've just strapped in, got comfy, stowed the papers (God only knows where), and are ready to commit aviation, when you realise that the door is still latched open and you have to undo the straps etc to shut it.

OH if correct, please.

Spot on TheiC! - it's a BN2 Islander cockpit door. Once seen (or heard, if the left mag switches are on), never forgotten.

Hi Graeme.
This aircraft was not from the Caproni stable.

The engine is possibly a Wright R-760. The Naval Aircraft Factory N3N-3 Canary perhaps?
