This aircraft only had 1. Do not let the wheel lead you astray.

It certainly has been....

The prop blade shadow might well mean it was landed with the engine already stopped.

G'day Mel.

American? Initially thought P-36, but doesn't fit.
Another desperate thought was a French Bloch - 157.

Have we crashed in North Africa?

Off to work now. Cheers.

It is indeed a Reggiane Re.2002 Ariete following a mishap. Karl has requested Open House.

Thanks David, very generous mate, I didn't have time to check out my hunch, but I thought it looked too small for the Cyclone

I've been very busy all morning and I won't be able to monitor very often this pm as I've got a business call from Canada at 3 o/c, but will do what I can as I don't like to throw another OH.

Good evening Mel,

A well timed return from my part-time duties!

It is indeed the one Lavochkin La-9 that was fitted with two underwing PVRD-450 auxiliary ramjets and given the Designation La-138

You have control

Supper now, then off for the house-sitting part, back later with luck!
