No, not the Exe. Nearest close match in my terms to Exeter would be Christchurch, long since closed. I lived on that river in my youth, and much later in my dotage. And that river was yours also, albeit in name only and not location. No, not the Adour.
From my aged memory Christchurch, Hampshire (as it was when closed) only had a grass runway. Also, at the time of closure you would only have seen Austers, Tiger Moths, and some ex AST Oxfords, before they were broken up. All hangars on the west side, with one exception being the ATC gliding school at the south end.

Avon, yes. Christchurch, Avon, Sea Vixen. In like manner, Lossie, Spey, Bucaneer. Now for the airfield in question, Airfield, Engine, Aircraft. For what it is worth, O Level geography wii reveal that the river flows the wrong way.

Good evening jensdad.
It's neither very hot nor very cold.
It was a small military airfield and some years ago it was proposed to make it into an international airport. Ate the end of 2016 it was described as not operating but in 2017 a company was operating from there.
That might make it easier.
And good evening to you ea200.
It is in Europe but not high latitude.
Listening out.

Could it be the airfield that was known to Ryanair as Balaton Airport? I remember there were efforts a few years ago to get the place going as a second international airport for Hungary. I then heard that Ryanair had pulled out and haven't heard anything about the place since!
