Also think that if the user who solves the challenge doesn't respond within 24 hours of gaining control of the board, that it should be an automatic Open House. Doesn't have to be a new challenge, just to acknowledge that they are in control and will be posting a new challenge shortly, or to declare Open House.
ve3id was on-line when I replied that he was correct, and was on-line 2 hours ago - I've send him a PM.

The "on-line" facility is often incorrect. I am often listed thus when I'm not on-line.
ve3id will not see the PM unless he logs in again. It has now been more than 24 hours since he was given control and in the meantime the thread is stalled.
We had this problem on another site which I frequent, and it was solved by asking people to monitor when they had solved a challenge. Some people were in a different time zone, as is ve3id, so they merely declared OH and banked the win for another occasion. It works well.

Have updated the "rules" in this post so I can create the wiki when we are all happy with them.
Am updating the Country/Set/Solved from the start Must have something to do before going back to work on Wednesday

- If Open House is declared, time should be given for those who are not great at naming the correct location but may have some good images (Seacue WAI .Page 4).
I agree, but what doe that (Seacue WAI .Page 4) mean?

dook - yes, I think that an auto open house should occur.
SLB. Seacue was the originator of the whole thread - was pointing at the thread What Aerodrome I, Page 4 where this was suggested
My interpretation of Seacue's suggestion is that if an Open House is declared, if you are a regular contributor either solving or setting the puzzles, don't immediately jump in with an image as you might be keeping someone new or an infrequent poster out. Can be intimidating to post on this thread for the first few times.
The record solve (in the last 2 years) is 2 minutes, with one of 3 minutes.
I also think we should ban the phrases - "This will be an easy one" and "This might be hard" or similar - as they are almost always wrong
Someone (guess who) has been deleting threads as we were up at Page 550 this morning. I wrote this when it was halfway down page 549. Went to check on ve3id and it is page 548.This is bloody annoying - My link to "this post" above no longer works because of these deletions. It is currently #10933.
ve3id is on line as I write this.

It's more than annoying.
It doesn't happen at all on my other site - people there know better and it's presently on page 1093.
Images may be posted directly to the thread and since image hosting is not required there is simply no need to remove images or posts.

I'm not sure about 24 hour then OH - some people seem to have the thread constantly open on their desktop - others travel or work in less "understanding" offices............ isn't patience a virtue???

Agreed. My job is one of those where I occasionally have to drop everything, for a few weeks. Indeed, there have been occasions where I’ve set a challenge and then been unable to ‘manage’ it. We can all still behave like gentlemen, yes? Perhaps a consensus is better than a hard-line rule on timings?
