Which Aerodrome Mk III
Could very well be a `fair call` with Sharjah. If so, it has come along somewhat since I was last there in 1967, wearing sweaty flying suits flying for Her Majesty. Mind you Dubai next door has expanded a little too!
Already Christmas Day in the outer parts of the Commonwealth, do have a good one everybody, Cheers.

It appears that tonight Cows is busy using his red nosed steed for other purposes.

A lovely grass field.
Whitianga airfield on the Coromandel Peninsular New Zealand, very popular spot for holidaymakers from Auckland at this time of the year. The green Carters Building Supplies warehouse was a good clue, I spend lots in my own local one.

https://www.carters.co.nz/rural/ for those with time on their hands
If it has a Carters and there are a few good looking hangars there that look private I guess it's not too far from a reasonable sized town.. off to the in-laws for Christmas Lunch....................

Local knowledge wins every time. My next clue was going to be this recent picture:
It was taken from a DC-3 which had been chartered by a group, to fly them from Tauranga to Whitianga (all of 56 nm), to play golf. What a stylish way to go golfing!
I was also going to add "Captain Cook transited here". He put in here in November 1769 to observe a Transit of Mercury, hence the name Mercury Bay. While he was here, he became the first European to visit a Maori pa.
kaikohe has control.

Just a note to `India Four Two`. Thanks for showing the Whitianga photo, it`s a very nice spot indeed & over the holiday season fills up very quickly, super fishing out in Mercury Bay. Cook pulled his ship up onto the beach while he was here, so they could clean the under side of the hull. The town is also quite close to Hot Water Beach popular with visitors. For our anniversary a couple of years ago, Wife & I took a nostalgic trip in the very same DC3, which included overflying Auckland Int at 500`, when it was quiet & on to view the City & Hauraki Gulf.

I agree - a very nice spot, as is the whole Coromandel. I drove up there from Tauranga a few years ago and went kayaking at Cathedral Cove. I also did the Waihi gold mine tour. I had no idea there was such a big hole in the ground in the middle of town, until I saw it from the air.
Yes as you rightly say folks, it`s the Chatham Islands, a rather remote spot, but well worth a visit. I have had two visits planned over the last few years, but unfortunately both had to be scrapped at the last minute. Back to my own personal supply of images aeronautical images of the past then!
Nvubu, I think you got there first, regards to all.
