Which Aerodrome Mk III
California?
PS Well done for updating the list. Clearly a labour of love.

Ah, I thought the orchards might be orange groves.
Oranges don't grow here either, but I assume you mean your challenge and not sunny Hertfordshire.
So how about Europe, specifically north and east of Paris?

Yes to Europe, but not in France.
You are correct, in that I meant in the challenge, so the aerodrome cannot be in Hertfordshire either, but as you have surmised, other fruit does grow in this location.
Right off out for breakfast

Well, this is the first time I've been used as a clue!
They must be apple trees.

You would have to make it the aphabetically last on lists of RAF airfields and frigates to compare
I'm going for Wye.
Even in 1940 there was nothing left to see there.
Google earh history slider takes you back to high resolution aerial photos from about 1940. Neat!
If declared correcr, I'll hand over control to India Fur Two, as he was the main clue and I think I had a time zone advantage in responding just before he did.

Wye it is - I did notice it was last in the list, but it was the only clue I could come up with
Here's the first image in a modern context.
It is surprising how little is left of the WWI aerodromes in this country. Although looking at that 1940 overhead, looks like one of the flight sheds might still remain.
So Terry has it, but as India Four Two was the clue, he has control.

Terry,
Go ahead if you have a new aerodrome.

Thanks Terry.
Here's an airport I landed at once, to refuel a Motorfalke, during a cross-country delivery trip.
I was warned in advance that I might have difficulty understanding the chap who would reply to me on the traffic frequency. Sure enough, the only word I understood was the airport name!
