Not my best area in aviation, but by a process of elimination, would this be an Etrich aircraft...and if so on the basis of what you say, maybe an Etrich-Robart??

...not mine either but the wing planform looks suspiciously like a Lohner design.

Yes it is a Lohner product. Its called Lohner-Bomhard, the engineer was Karl Bomhard from Berlin. Its based on the famous Lohner Pfeilflieger, which flew several world records at this time. So I would say Drawbarz has control.

Definitely the XF-91. I had the pleasure of meeting Kartveli after his retirement from Republic.

FlightlessParrot is correct. The rocket-jet, variable-incidence Republic XF-91.

Looks suspiciously like the Cavalier Turbo Mustang III?

I forget the exact vintage/nomenclature matchup, but Cavalier's first turbo conversion used a Dart (ex-Viscount). This drawing appears to be that vintage.

And if memory serves, the Enforcer had a T55 turboprop - thus a fatter nose.

As you say Barit1, the nose of the PA-48 is fatter (and more streamlined) to accommodate the T55. Also comparing the 2, the PA-48 has a more blown cockpit canopy and various aerials aft of the cockpit...not to mention a huge pitot (I guess thats what it is) protruding from one of the wing tanks. So sticking to my original suggestion!

Guys the 3 view was marked as the Piper PA-48 Enforcer so I reckon 'dash7fan' gets it. But looking at the photograph from the same feature the nose shape is definitely different...

I think I may have sorted this out. The Cavalier Turbo Mustang III (Dart engine) was 'sold' to Piper and gained the name Enforcer. Piper were then able to get the Lycoming T55 that Cavalier always wanted for it. Sorry for the confusion...

All I know on this I get from Wikipedia, but it's also noticeable that the Piper PA-48 has 10 hardpoints in the pix I've seen, the Turbo Mustang 6; so the three-view seems to have been miscaptioned.

As Drawbarz says the Cavalier Turbo Mustang 3 was effectively a prototype. Piper took over the rights and produced the PA-48. The biggest difference was the engine, the Cavalier had the RR Dart engine (a la Vickers Vicsount etc) hence the rather slim and pointed nose compared to the more bulky T55 on the PA-48.

Anyway, here's one to for the rotary fans, and my apologies now to a certain person!

Why apologise skytrain10? Just because I think that these machines are really glorified egg whisks, does not mean that they are not fun.

To start the ball rolling let's try the Bell 47 G or H?

Mel:
Thanks for all your hard work on the updated lists. Surprising how many challenges we have had since the thread started.
