S'land has it Well done The Espenlaub E-11 may have been called the "Schlepp" when towing a rocket equipped glider. Besides experimenting with tailless gliders and rocket power, Gottlob Espenlaub also designed streamlined automobiles, both pre and post-war. He also developed an attack aircraft for the Luftwaffe during WW.II, but little is known about it. You have control.

Thanks Bri, that was another excellent challenge. Gottlob Espenlaub was indeed an incredible man, very keen on streamlining. The amount of top notch engineers, not just in aviation, produced in the first half of the twentieth century was incredible.

OK. Here is the next challenge.

Hmm, I see what you mean Chiglet, but it is not the Hanriot HD-1, neither does it come from the same country. Sorry. The mystery aircraft did share the same engine marque as the HD-1, but not the same model number.

Welcome to the madhouse skytrain10. Your first shot hit the very centre of the bull, it is indeed the Sikorsky S-20.

Built in 1916 the S-20 was the last of RBVZ’s WWI fighters and, as far as I can see, the last aircraft that Sikorsky designed in Russia. The S-20 was developed from the Nieuport 17 that RBVZ had made under licence. It was powered by a 120hp Le Rhone engine and had a top speed of 190 km/h. Only five were ordered and built.

You have control skytrain10.

Whoops!,
Although the Aircraft in the challlenge drawing is I believe of the Sikorsky S-20, the picture just submitted is of a Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter variant in Russian markings.

Very well done Skytrain 10.

Sorry, you are correct. That will teach me to post photographs in a hurry. I have removed the offending article.

Thanks for the welcome. Pleased to join the madhouse!

I have been monitoring for the last week or so, but this was the first one that I immediately (well almost!) recognised.

I'll let someone else have control for the time being while I work out how to attach pics!

Well, as it appears still open for me to post, here goes. I should exlain I am travelling and currently residing in a hotel, so have somewhat limited resources (ie none other than the internet).

Anyway my very first challenge for you is of the rotary wing variety:

Good luck!

Point of order Mr.Chairman!!!! I intentionally foresaw fixed wing a/c on the challenge.

Only you know what you 'foresaw'. A review of the evidence, short your mind-logs, indicates that you specified only "a/c".

Objection overruled sir.

Well done Sycamore...a very limited production machine of somewhat unusual design.

Here's the real thing....

And my apologies if I have deviated....is this fixed wing only??

Not at all, as I understand it both rotary and fixed wing aircraft are included.
