In silhouette they do, don't they? In a picture this doesn't look the same as anything else. And even here, albeit subtly, very subtly......

Do you mean that it's unusual on this type of aircraft, like retractable gear, or a trike biplane as there are a few about, or something unique, a one of a kind?

From the USA?

Much like you described but not retractable gear . From the USA. In fact a modification.

Close enough.

My source calls it Wren-460

I had some trouble dodging TC's question of "Cessna of some sort", since it is, in fact, a STOL modification of Cessna 182.

PS: TC you can see a tiny bit of the canard in the silhouette.....

Hello World and Top o' the Morning irishair ( I thought it was that one too!),

Thanks Brian, Nice challenge, there's a lot that look very similar from that attitude, it was the tanks on top of the upper wing that did it for me!

Edited to say that looking at your new photo, they're back under the wing, like a lot of other types, which is why I mentioned the "B" variant as here: handley | air ministry | napier lions | 1922 | 0038 | Flight Archive

Try this one gentlemen!

It came from a 1985 magazine discussing the latest homebuilt aircraft gathered at (typing carefully now) Brienne-le-Chateau.

Googled it and it's on the Net!

(The 'cockpit' is from a book devoted to early aviation from "gettyimages" )
