Thanks LM,

I suddenly remembered where I'd seen it!

Best I can do at the moment with the kit I've got on this laptop

Hi SincoTC, That is a nice one. It mainly served as engine test bed (!) and was reportedly flown with at least 8 different engines in the 3 to 25hp range. It initially had two 3hp engines.
The Stits SA-8 Skeeto......
and Mr. Ray Stits became world famous for his Stits Fabric which is still widely used in especially homebuilt aircraft construction......
and of course for the SA-1 through SA-11 series of homebuilt aircraft.

I gave David some homework and it is up to him to declare OH or post a 3-view
(sorry David)

Good evening WK,

Well done again!! It is indeed the Stits SA-8 Skeeto

You've just rattled off all the clues I'd got lined up !! However, you didn't mention that it was issued with a license that imposed a 50 foot altitude limit owing to safety concerns!!

If I understand you correctly (and I assume you've cleared this with him), you wish to hand control to David (LM) to proxy post for you, or declare an OH if this isn't possible at the time.

Therefore, Lightning Mate has control. Wakey wakey mate!!

Good morning - I'm awake.

WKs' mail arrived last night at 2339 because of an incorrect address, and I have just retrieved it at work.

I'm in class all morning but might be able to get it up at around 1000 this morning if everyone can wait.

In the meantime the decision rests with Walter, not me surely.

Good morning LM ,

I believe to avoid a stalled thread, Walter wanted to give you the authority to declare an OH if for any reason you were unable to post his image!

Once you post it, I assume that control then returns to Walter to monitor and adjudicate the challenge, as if it follows past form, you'll have no information at all about it.

Unexpected free period, so I can get WKs' image up in fifteen minutes.

Acceptable??

If you can accept me, as the sole attendant of this inquiry, to be the quorum, then yes, acceptable .

'Tag Reg, Goedemorgen Walter,

Walter, did you challenge ever fly? Was it a homebuilt, kitbuilt or a manufacturers project.

Hi SincoTC,
It did not fly and is not a homebuilt deign.
It is the work of a well known manufacturer, still active in building aircraft.

LM thank you for turning he 3-view into a silhouette.

Afternoon Gents,

Coffee break, time for a look in!

Thanks for the answers WK, I've not had very much time to delve today, but didn't turn up much at lunchtime! Could really do with a year or thereabouts to enable a deeper search, or maybe an indication of nationality?

LM replied to your PM

Back to work again in a moment, pick up search again later!

Walter

Tried to trawl as a minijet but it was not among quite many I looked at.

My questions: an idea for military trainer? Is it in the web more conspicuously with a normal tail, or just the V-tail version pictured?

Will be off line for a couple of hours...

I guess it was a design for a jet trainer.
The designation was also used for a big transport project, so if you Google the answer, you may end up with that one.
May have to do with the fact that the country of origin used military/government and constructor designations.

No Lm, not so!

It is Soviet Union. And there half-a dozen-design companies .

Hello Reg,

Your light is still on, I wonder if you've turned in yet?

This challenge seems to be very elusive doesn't it! Any ideas on its age, I asked Walter several hours ago, but haven't had a response.

Walter: you said it didn't fly, so was it built and if so are there any photos of it (or a mock-up/model) on the Web? Is your 3-view on the Web?

TC,

Both scenarios Russian and USA (because it could have been T-nn or XT-nn, same number for a trainer and transport) totally empty. On the other hand, how many big transport projects there were were at the time? Lockheed, Boeing, Douglas, Convair, Antonov, Ilyusihin, Tupolev,

Timing-wise, if Russian, should be late -40s early 50s, given what else designers did there at the time. US even later. V-tail looks enigmatic for both countries.

China... naw....

Or I just do not get what walter means by "May have to do with the fact that the country of origin used military/government and constructor designations." France?

As you can see, I am just talking to keep myself warm - I have no idea .

I am turning in now. Please mind the shop TC. Good night!
