What Cockpit? MK VI
success.
I'm seeing many Brits with the struts in the normal V pattern but not like those in your photo - and yours looks like they originate from the sides of the cockpit? Almost seem to be obstructing the pilots entry?

Hi Graeme
This aircraft was a monoplane. It had limited service during the later part of WWI. It did have a cramped cockpit and I am sure would have been a struggle to get in and out.

I reckon NutherA2 is spot on.
My question is why did Trenchard dislike monoplanes because apparently it was often snaffled by Aces like McCudden as their personal transport. The RFC didn't like it so Trenchard had his way and put back British fighter design quite a few years.
Also the first aircraft to cross the Andes btw.

The original idea of this thread is that the poster knows the identity of the challenge cockpit.
The current stalemate is totally predictable.
To get this thread moving again, I'll support Woods contention that the challenge photo is of the mockup/prototype cockpit panel of the Douglas DC-4E.

Good evening all,
Indeed it is, but I would suggest that whoever posted the "missing picture" did know what it was! However, for whatever reason he then deleted it, but not before aviate1138 had seen it and I guess copied it to aid his search
Thanks are due to evansb for confirming it and unblocking the situation.
Woods has declared an Open House
Edit: I'll take this opportunity to apologise for my absence from the AH&N quiz threads recently and say that this has been entirely due to the reduction of my spare time (and enthusiasm) caused by the ongoing serious illness of a long-time work colleague, which has involved many extra duties

I have an iMac with Time Machine running and I just went back to the 25/26th when the pic was posted.

So you are Dr. Who?
That pointed windshield looks very familiar but I can't place it.
