Thank you... May I ask, is this a US design? I'm presuming a kit-built aircraft, not a factory production one?

Yes mate, the USA. Kit-build.

Described as an "egg with wings". From what I've read, a little controversial in magazines at the time as writers disbelieved the projected performance figures.

The designer was Jim Griswold.

Ah, I was getting quite close (I had another tab open on 'quest' when your clue came through...).

The Questair Venture.

I'll say OPEN HOUSE for now if I'm right.

Yes it was a twin Mel.

Speedranger ST1 - the reg is G-GPST
Well done TheiC. My source called it the Speedtwin but Speedranger googles equally well I see.

LM, you have it... The rather suprising Icon A5. From their website :
The A5 proof-of-concept aircraft has completed hundreds of test flights, and production is scheduled to start at the end of 2012
Cirrus are doing the build. More here: ICON Aircraft | About ICON

You have control...

Well, we're not moving far here Mel. G'day by the way. Stopped snowing?

Thinking WWI?
French?
Parasol? Only because that support bar seems so close to the cockpit?

Graeme. You are correct in that it was a WWI aircraft but it was not French nor a parasol.

My immediate reaction is to say Rumpler but I have no idea why....... must be the cold and a sluggish brain.

Sorry for the delay. This aircraft was not from the Rumpler stable.

I'm now looking at inverted V struts very close to a cockpit opening, hopefully a German biplane and not on your list. No idea if it's a single or two-seater yet.
Albatross appear to have done it a lot.

Here's a two-seater. It's an Albatross C X....?

Sorry for the delay Graeme. However this aircraft was not of German design or build it was in fact from the UK.
