Weather on the downhill

Oh well, at least it was worth a punt going to Farnborough. Shame that the standing around in the wind wasn't rewarded by the beast taking to the air again.
One was just wondering if the transformer might not have been affected by the rain in the last few days as the old girl must have a few tiny gaps here and there in her skin ?
Thumbs crossed for tomorrow's effort.

Yep - only 1 phase came up on the transformer. I think the damp got to it. Still replacement is on it's way down to FAB, so WX permitting tomorrow.
Nice bar at Lasham!

Ah well there is always tomorrow, still the day had its rewards. Whilst waiting on Aunt's Pool Hill a fox just strode by in front of us unaware of how close we were. Then an excellent lunch at the Swan where we heard the reason for the delay. Then the crowning bit was on the way home turned one corner to find a Wokka hovering over a water reservoir just to one side of the road into our village. So close. Leaves everywhere. Brilliant. And hopefully see the Vulcan depart tomorrow.

Hopefully Smiler has changed out the TRU and MA have cleared the aircraft. WX is perfect today.

The joy when it started up and the smell of the burnt fuel wafting over towards the threshold of the runway was a pleasure. It didn't seem to hang around too long, just waiting for that Norwegian 737 to do a go-around and then it taxied the short distance to the threshold looking every bit the evil bruiser that it was built to be in the 50's. A short roar, followed by a bigger roar and it was off with a majestic haste, a bat like high angle climb and then a dive off to the port side towards Lasham (?).
It was over so quickly, but whatever you can say about the Vulcan, it sure does make an impression. I saw it some 5 mins later doing what looked like manoeuvres over Fleet (?) before it dived into clouds and that was that.
Beautiful.......
One has a short film of said take-off should anyone wish to host. It's from a distance, but steady Now wouldn't it be wonderful if there was someone up in the tower who filmed the take-off ?

Thank you!
Yes, 558 flew to Lasham, turned back to RAF Odiham, then north to me, then a left turn to track down the M4 to the A34, A43 to Northampton, then to Bruntingthorpe.
I hope the CAA will review this years operation of the Vulcan with a tick good and along with the OEM's they will continue to support such a fantastic project.

Thames Valley TV
Hi
Thames Valley Tv tonight were saying many times over this was likely
last Flight and how much each Show appearance has cost overall
about 2 million a show and very likely will end up very soon in a museum
Always Doom and gloom these days . The positive thing today seems
all went Well flew perfectly so Museum bound we all very much hope
not for a few years.

Sadly it is no mystery that the media is proliferated with negtivity when it comes to the project.
Almost every press release issued by VTTS or Chief Executive / Chairman's statement is full of "this may be the last flight".
It's no good bleating about the press not giving the project sufficient coverage one the one hand and then being equally upset when they cover the story in the same vein as the management team at VTTS.
The same routine as ever is annoying. No communication as to exactly what is going on, reverting to the lack of disclosure on data and then crappy PR.

Sadly thats such a tired old line. Every VTTS forum that I ever saw had people saying "let's ring Branson".
It's so overused as everyone assumes he will support anyone and everyone.
