Now noticing the location of the hangars ... that's a good shout brakedwell.
Damn! And I had a photo lined up too. I'll wait until there is a dropout then.

ThreadBaron and brakedwell.
This airfield is neither Heathrow nor Stansted. I should add that this airfield no longer exists although I believe the hangars might still be there. It did play a part in our Aviation Heritage.

ZH875 has it It was Moreton Valence where Glosters did their testing of Meteors and Javelins. I believe the M5 now follows the main runway.

If you think it is St Mawgan, you are wrong
Dont believe everything you find on the internet! The little dots on the (top) dispersal are Royal Navy helicopters, and the dispersal at the bottom is an RAF V bomber dispersal. Yeovilton (& St Mawgan) were both dispersal airfields.
I know which website this photograph comes FRADU Hunters from and the description is very confusing.
This is the layout of St Mawgan:

jarvis769169's challenge
I agree with Tiger_mate that is RNAS Yeovilton, HMS Heron. On the other side of the road is the Wardroom as it was until about 2000 with the old wartime hut living accommodation where I have spent many a cold night in.
