Sorry fellas,
The best looking a/c has to be the DH 110, or Sea Vixen to the uninitated, pesronally I prefer the Mk 1 but am willing to settle for the Mk 2.
Just to upset BOAC I may put the BAC Lightning as a second but then it was never capable of going to sea and being a "Proper a/c"!!!

Best Looking
Best looking twin-engined Japanese aircraft of World War II? The Kawasaki Ki-96 could be a contender, but I do like the Mitsubishi Ki-83.

evansb,
I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I can't believe that fin was made for that aircraft. The Mosquito way outstrips it in the 'best looking' stakes, in my humble opinion.
Regards, rts

Best looking?
I don't think anyone has metioned the B-58. With four big engines hanging in the breeze, and the huge delta wing, this thing looks fast sitting still.
Unlike the XB-70, this supersonic bomber was actually used in service.
Like the XB-70, (which also looks as fast as it was) you can see one today at the museum located on the grounds of Wright-Patterson AFB, along with a huge number of other aircraft.
Special mention goes to another airplane that you can view at the same location as above (which I don't think anyone else has mentioned), the Me-262. Love the big engines on the little wing, as well as the slightly triangular section of the body.

Best looking trainer. I like this one. The view from the cockpit must be fantastic
watp,iktch
The steam Otter looks better, sounds better and flies better, I think.
By the way, what's with the past tense? How many 60+ year old aircraft types are still earning their keep today in commercial service around the world?? Can't be many??

Civil Aircraft has to be CONCORDE
Love those gliders though they really are totally form fitting function.
cannot believe anyone thinks the XB70 Valkerie was beautiful! and I have seen it in the flesh at Wright-Patterson!

Yes henry crun, the Skyshark was a turboprop. The aircraft pictured is a Douglas F5D Skylancer, a development of the F4D Skyray. My photo source, The Aviation Enthusiast Corner at aeroweb.brooklyn.cuny.edu got it wrong as well. If you enjoy aircraft identification, try your hand at Avia Quiz 'Name That Plane' at dauntless-soft.com.
