Coming up on 4 weeks now so I will just sit tight :ok:

GA Driver 10th Dec 2019 10:36

They've got a bit on their plate at the minute with several pesky unions wanting to walk off the job. I'm sure they'd look at strikebreakers if they could only get them trained......
Sit tight, its approaching Christmas. Management are usually halfway out the door by now, they're only hanging around to work out the 'strategy' for the upcoming stoppages.

Personally I think you won't hear much until next year, but its just my .02c.

LostontheLOC 10th Dec 2019 22:57

I don't believe there is any set timeframe, it's just as required.

I have heard between 2 days through to a couple of months as well. With the amount of people still on the hold, plus J* NZ shutting down, it might be a bit of a wait on the hold till you hear something.

DJ36 15th Dec 2019 04:13

Is it unlikely to get through to reference checks and then be knocked back?

Gear in transit 15th Dec 2019 08:06

Yes, that would be unusual u less you got a bad reference.

Hawaiian.party 8th Jan 2020 04:10

Has anyone heard anything recently regarding recruitment? Have been reference checked but heard nothing since.

The airline talking of redundancies due industrial dispute. Most likely means there will not be any recruiting for a while.

18 new frames coming from August 2020, unlikely they'll be slowing recruiting down

was it positive? I’m curious given Jetstars shot over the bow that they might have to make 50 pilots redundant (utter BS).

DJ36 17th Jan 2020 04:19

Yes, positive outcome :O

Mate I think we're all on the same page that it IS total BS. Even if they did get rid of 787's (which is likely) the most jnr 787 guys would filter back to the 320.

Were these for the November 2019 application period?

Ollie Onion 25th Jan 2020 03:51

Recruitment may come to a grinding halt when the effect of the Corona Virus outbreak is felt, it is going to be a massive blow to the worldwide airline industry.

ScepticalOptomist 25th Jan 2020 04:18

Wouldn’t panic just yet Ollie. According to the CDC (as opposed to click bait media) there’s a long way to go before this would create large scale problems for the population.

That is correct.

Official infection numbers are roughly doubling every day. Yesterday Australia had zero cases nothing to worry about, now 4, one of whom returned from China 3 weeks ago!

Check the loads this week on SYD-HKG vs coming home. That’s assuming the crew show up to work! I’d be having a long hard think if it was me.

Even if it blows over the damage will still be done in people’s minds, not good even if you have a job let alone are trying to get one.

It’s Lunar New Year, maybe the week after next might be the better comparison
