In Bazza’s defence, when reliving high adrenaline moments like that it does get a bit squirly as to exactly who did what when, even with the best of intentions. Your brain has to fill in gaps to make the episode work ….the gun was on the steps……I must have kicked it down there….all subconscious.

Bazza for PM, I say.
Somtimes in this troubled world we live in, we need a bloke like Bazza, no groups hugs, no woke bs, non EV driver, no vegan tucker, no yuppie wine slurper, just those finely honed skills learnt in the shearing shed.

Thank you, you beat me to it. One might be tempted to say "Typical LNP supporter, believes everything they say and gets all their 'facts' from the LNP echo-chamber". But we best not, as that would be accusing others of bias.

I'm glad there are still people around like my Dad who, as Bazza said "just do".
That sort of person is rare these days, a rare breed indeed.

Indeed. Reminds me of when Ansett was in the process of collapse and one very senior executive was running around yelling at people for not wearing their hi-vis vest. It always reminded me of the scene in Zulu, where the soldiers are falling like flies to the Zulu's and the quartermaster is insisting on removing the screws from each of the ammo boxes because "these boxes can be used again" whereupon one of the soldiers knocks him out with the butt of his rifle and starts smashing the boxes open.
Then, some years later, I read a great piece by the now, sadly, late Professor James Reason, who observed that 'stressed' organisations are characterised by mid-level managers who constantly refer decisions upward and senior executives who concentrate on minutiae and inconsequential detail. I guess the same thing was at play with the then CEO of Ethiopian Airlines who allegedly, after a major accident, went to his office, locked the door and began clearing his in tray.

So, if one is relying on that festering pile of giraffe crap at the IPA for their information, they're out somewhere in the twilight zone beyond reality.
The only constant with that organisation and the media that panders to it, is that they will take any data they can then sausage grind it into how they want it to come out.
Sir Humphrey Appleby would be proud.

Sorry, Bazza, but looks like you're going to face the full force of the law for assault. The 17 y.o. on the other hand will be admitted to a mental asylum and rehabilitated and be given a payout for assault. Welcome to Australia.

Mr Suss [Avalon Airport chief executive] said the airport would offer Mr Clark "free flights for life" after his act of bravery.

Now if Bazza was running Australia,
- he would have jumped in his tinny and armed with a carton of XXXX gone out into the Tasman Sea and told the Chinese Navy to go home,
- towed TC Alfred back out to sea so that AFL games could have gone ahead as planned,
- taken Donald and the Ukraine president down to the local RSL for a mixed grill, and then work a peace deal with Russia.
I suppose the 17 year old will have mental health issues?

there is audio of the take down, I don’t have a link. Listening to his voice it does come across as someone who doesn’t know what they did and didn’t understand why ppl were taking him down.
mental health issues or not tho, slap on the wrist for the young fella and off he goes. Australia being the pu$$y country it is won’t go to hard.

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that there are still old school Aussies like this but lets not kid ourselves. If Bazza wasn't there, and it was Granny Betty and Silvia on a bingo trip this could have ended very differently. Not to be overly dramatic, but once again we are saved by good luck and not good practice.
But sure I'll keep talking my belt and pen off at security. That'll fix it.

Victoria Police backs cautions over charges for young offenders.
The verdict on the caution and diversion program comes as youth crime hits a 15-year high in Victoria, sparking a political crisis for the Allan government, blamed for fuelling a revolt in last month’s by-election in Werribee – located near Wyndham – that saw Labor’s vote collapse and the party cling to the seat by just a couple of hundred votes.Crime data released late last year has exposed the scale of offending by children aged 14 to 17, showing crimes rising by more than 20 per cent, with 20,753 incidents recorded.
(From The Australian March 5th)
Don't worry, the Victorian crackdown on crime will see this 17 year old get a severely worded caution.
Maybe if the AFP got involved and got out the Commonwealth Crimes (Aircraft) Act - the outcome would keep him occupied for quite a long time!
That would be......................... good, diffferent.

People are starting to say "enough is enough", and taking miscreants head on.
Man in Rundal Mall uses a good old "hip and shoulder" bump to nab some prick who was assaulting a woman....it is alleged.

Politics aside (thread drift from quite a number of users in this thread),
This is a very serious security threat and quite a new method of breaching of the security perimeter. Many airports around the world will need to learn from this now and secure the perimeter even more.
If this guy was more direct and started shooting the sitting duck passengers from the moment he came onboard, this could have been the worse Australian aviation disaster in recent times.

There was another case where a teenager cut a hole in the fence and gained access to an aircraft parked overnight on the ramp. He was discovered inside the aircraft by ground staff.

You have to wonder sometimes.
