Now Keg just wants to keep their job like the rest of us. I don’t think anyone should be given a hard time for that.
Senior/junior/middle seniority/LH/SH- truth is we are all stuck up sh!t creek without a paddle right now. I hope we find that paddle soon.

This is gold...Talent Acquisition has the ascension power now. ‘Jobs for the boys’ is well and truly dead.
When you consider the crap that is thrown by nameless warriors on here, having a crack at Keg seems a bit rich.

Points all taken. At least Normanton is honest and open about the ambitions behind his arguments. He wants to avoid CR.
To put it another way (thanks Sunfish) what if all the arguments and opinions put forward on this forum and elsewhere was motivated simply by the prospect of promotion ? This is not a problem, its understandable as its human nature. The motivations probably need to be more transparent is my point.
As WK has said on Qrewroom. Always back a horse called self interest at least you know where it stands.

Not sure if promotion is motivation. after all there’s 196 fewer positions with the 747 going. A RIN for the remaining crew plus a home for the 380 crew at some point.
No. The only motivation I could see is padding below for more senior guys not wanting to take LWOP if it got to CR.
Either way. Worrying about stuff that’s totally out of our control is pointless. If the gator comes from below so be it. There will be another chapter and another adventure.
If we lose possessions. It’s just material stuff. There will always be shelter food and a warm bed somewhere. The family will adapt and we will all do our best at whatever we can to provide.
Having QF on your resume means you got to the top. It’s a small club, and in this country is the pinnacle of our commercial profession. Despite the naysayers who didn’t.
Hold your heads up high and don’t let them drag you down.

Just for perspective, over here at team V, there were 1810 pilots on the seniority list as of early April. All NZ based and all Tiger crew were made redundant at the onset of administration which removed just over 400 crew. Subsequently earlier this month all Widebody (330 and 777) and all ATR72 crew were made redundant, also totaling approximately 400 crew. Remaining are 140 VARA crew (WA based F100 and A320) whose future hangs in the balance, leaving about 860 or so B737 crew. The majority of those would now probably not be current with the latest restrictions, and negotiations are currently underway to have the 737 fleet on Part time 25 and Part time 50 as (hopefully) the flying hours pick up, in order to avoid CR on that fleet. VR and LWOP is being offered but the VR package will not be anything more than the legal entitlements.
Good Luck to all.
Good Luck to all.

Lol. You’re more focussed on my career than I am Mohikan. It’s been more than a decade now you’ve been taking pot shots at different times, and nearly four years since the mods deleted your BS that resulted in this response. Let’s not forget the time that you called me an ex RAAF QFI even though you know I’m not and you know I’ve never made myself out to be, Definitely time for you to seek professional help with your obsession!
By all means lets put our professional reputations on the line. Yours against mine. What I post up here and on Qrewroom against what you post on both forums. Let’s look at your motivations in your constant sniping attacks on me compared to my motivations in whatever I’ve posted.
I’m pretty much an open book here and on Qrewroom. If you know me half as well as you reckon you do then you’d also know that my posts on PPRUNE and Qrewroom have gained me precisely zero. You’d also be aware of the times they have cost me. That’s OK, I take responsibility for what I post and wear the consequences as a result.
It does show the stupidity of your comments though. You remain a coward. Hiding behind your VPN. Always smearing with innuendo. Always too small to put your name to your lies. Always too afraid to confront me to my face with those lies.
I do enjoy living rent free in your head though. That does make me laugh at times but the more generous part of my nature compels me to suggest that you should seriously seek professional assistance. What you’re going through isn’t healthy!

How is Qantas going to ferry all the announced 787’s to the USA ?
How many crew are still current ?
With AUSTRALIAN border restrictions , how will they be able to requalify ?
Sims in Sydney and Melbourne .
Where are most of the airframes presently sitting ?
What sort of quarantine restrictions will be placed on ferry crew , there in the USA plus on return to Australia ?
Who is going to put their hand up for such a sh!t storm privilege ?

If Virgin currently have 75 B737s and Bain are looking at a fleet of 60 - 70 aircraft then worst case is a 20% reduction ie 172 pilots. Normal retirement and loss of medical will come out of that number, a few may decide to take early retirement or change careers. Without a generous VR package on offer, and very poor job prospects in the short to medium term, most will likely hold on and hope for the best.
Bain’s view of Virgin could be a rough indication of possible QF restructuring on the domestic side, basically 10 - 20% less. International is a different matter as Virgin can easily do without it however it’s a QF core business which needs to resume when possible however it’s the most difficult to predict. All that can be said for certain is that the network and frequencies will be reduced and smaller aircraft used. B737s will replace wide bodies where possible, which may take up some slack on the domestic front.

With the 2019-2020 yearly to be announced tomorrow, does anyone have any thoughts on AJ 3 year plan and what changes he will make? What reductions to crew and cabin crew will be made to all of the group in particular QF and Jetstar?
747, 380 787 Jetstar 787 maybe even 330 crew will be surplus to requirements then 737 and 320 how much surplus is there as there is no end in sight for domestic borders opening up.
Surely the 3 year plan announced in May will have changed and the crew numbers needed will have changed, also given a vaccine will be at least 12-18 months away Qantas will want to reduce cash burn even further to even survive past December 2021.

Stage 3 trial results due in November, so its not inconceivable that if successful (as early results suggest it will be), the vaccine will be widely available in Australia by early 2021.
There is cause for cautious optimism.
