Cebu Pacific will fly non stop daily MNL to AKL and not via Aust and have applied for air rights to do so, they still have 2 A330s on order to open up new routes. The NZ-PH agreement allows 21 services per week up from 3 per week previously.

Fifth freedom
Nitpicker,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but fifth freedom rights cannot operate without, at the minimum, trilateral agreement: the existence of bilateral agreements between NZ and the Philippines and between NZ and Australia confer no ability on NZ to force Australia to accept Philippines traffic from NZ. Even if Australia and the Philippines have a bilateral agreement, it will not necessarily permit the Philippines to operate to Australia via NZ.

Don't know the rules for it.
I guess you could Google it

AirAsia X and Cebu Pacific are from two totally different ports/markets. (AAX was flying to CHC NOT AKL!) The times I have travelled on Jetstar to SIN ex AKL it has been basically made up of Philippines nationals travelling via SIN..However nothing is stopping Cebu from extending from OZ to NZ.

Is that like nitpicker330's "Don't know the rules for it" or do you have a factual basis for your statement?

Good luck to those travelling on this woeful airline. After an experience last year in the Philippines and zero customer service I won't be cramming myself in their seats.

actually by very clever design of galleys & toilets(small) & bukheads, the seat pitch is more than all JQ aircraft by 1 to 3 inches (not many seats are 2 to 3 inches more than JQ).
at 9 abreast, the aisles & seats are slightly narrower.

I've flown Cebu Pacific heaps in int he Philippines - never had an issue.
You get what you pay for, but unlike the "low cost" carriers on Oz, they are actually low cost.
$75 Manila Cebu return.
Flown with them out of Kl to Manila as well.
Not sure about long haul. I have flown Air Asia X though, just get in early and pay for an exit or bulkhead row.
