This has everyone on edge - with any luck we can find our fate soon enough, we all need to relax.
@ potsie weber
yes, those are the questions that need answering - the answer you get will definitely depend on whom you ask!

So now the numbers have gone from 100, with AIPA believing no CR will be required, to 300.
Why the F*&k can't these idiots communicate with their staff properly. Why do we always find **** out in the media.
So, will any of you 65+ that hang around on SH bugger off now?

Qantas is understood to be seeking less than 100 redundancies among the 550 767 and 747 pilots in its workforce. Overall, the airline has around 2000 pilots in its mainline operations.
Mr Safe said there were no signs the airline would need to make additional pilots redundant based on the fleet plan it has presented to the market to date.
"The plan seems to be to target the fleet that has surplus," he said. "It is my belief given the known flying changes we won't need to go down the compulsory redundancy path."

Qantas has started a major pilot redundancy program for the first time in decades that will ultimately target as many as 300 pilots it believes are excess to the financially troubled and shrinking airline's needs.
In the first instance Qantas will attempt to meet its targets for captains and first officer retrenchments voluntarily, but it is unlikely to achieve this. Ultimately, it will probably move to involuntary redundancies.

I know for a fact that ground staff who took a VRgot 15+ months plus a significant contribution to their super and staff travel for each year of service.
Any VR offered to the pilot group less than this will be an insult and a disgrace.
How much were the CC offered a few years back?

An email from DT turned up in company email inbox on iPad this afternoon. The bulk of the email is replicated in a blog on the QF flight crew website.
Cheers

Ground staff get whatever is in their workplace determination.
From what I understand in the past with other staff that it's usually 1 months pay for each year of service. The pluses like super contributions and other benefits are what you can negotiate with the company or what they can afford to offer at that time which according to that leaked memo to 3AW isn't going to be much. Probably a free dinner voucher at Rock Pool.
And don't forget AJ isn't very good at negotiating, look how well he negotiated during the last round of EBAs, I think negotiate is a word that's not in the Irish dictionary!

If you had bothered to read the first sentence of DT's announcement, you would realise why you have not received an email on the subject.

Also, thanks to Kenny B. for giving us an early 'heads up' a few days ago about this. Good gen.
iPad email still blank!!

Earlier today, I sent a message to our Boeing 767 and 747 Captains and First Officers advising that.......

Not far from 1 million views.
Liking that.
Seems that only united people power will be the key to removing this lot.
The whole debacle is a shameful and dishonest disgrace.
I'm ready to march and so are many of my family and friends.
Enough is enough.

i've marched from jq and the qf group. very liberating.
if you have half a mind or opportunity to, do yourself a favour. more to life than selling it to that mob.

I quite enjoyed 'smokin' Joe's' speech last evening. One of the big side benefits is the stress and anxiety it will cause in the 'public service' due to 'job' uncertainty. Unlike the poor buggers at Qantas, the PS have stress relief and flexi days available, hell they'll probably get free counselling to help deal with their upset, poor little sausages. No 3 a.m. get ups for them, no running about a ramp soaking wet trying to meet OTP, no dragging 2/300 individual bums half way around the world, back of the clock so the kids can go to school and eat. Nope, none of that for the PS. But it's all over the news, the poor darlings are swooning away with uncertainty; Aw, how my heart bleeds.
Next time I'm back on this planet- provided the revolution hasn't outlawed the gig; I wanna be a PS, hidden away in a cosy corner somewhere sharpening the pencils, carefully monitoring the coffee machine and counting the days to an early, lucrative retirement.

How many redundancy free decades have you had in your until now secure job? Versus the public sector worker who usually fears for their job on an election by election basis.

According to MacBank, average cost of ground crew VR is 2.3 yrs pay per head.
For pilots, an equivalent formula would be something like:
If Qantas pilots themselves don't believe they are worth as much as the rest, there can't possibly be any truth to the Sky God BS can there?
For pilots, an equivalent formula would be something like:
2 Years + Superannuation as a separate payment + Staff Travel for 36 months.

Kharon what a bull**** rant. I'm sure the PS will be looking at you as an overpaid, button pushing toff and get great pleasure out of your stress, anxiety and job loss.
I can never understand workers aligning against workers.

On the money - pretty much nothing can prevent the catastrophe that's about to unfold for possibly hundreds of QF pilots.
I hope there is plenty of support for these guys.
