Fed Sec Responses
Steve P demonstrated that the majority of the Senators were fishing for answers that were already made available in the ALAE submission. I took the trouble to read it so it beats me why the senate committee did not, with the exception of Senator X, do the same.
The answers given by Steve P to rambling questions by the venerable senators were clear and concise which did not need further explanation.
I have worked as a contracted LAME in overseas organizations, albeit many years ago, as well as part of the regulatory team that had the responsibility of oversight (not as part of CASA) of MRO's in Asian and European countries. With the odd exception the people I dealt with we're skilled, professional and focused on the tasks at hand and able to demonstrate compliance with whatever rules and regulations were in place at that time.
However, time has changed this attitude I believe and it Falls upon the folk such as in the ALAE to keep the hard questions coming and not be put off by those who don't like the truth.
Many years ago I was a member of the ALAE, but resigned in 1982.

Thanks for that.
ALAE Fed Sec 👍 Elephant stamp for calmness under fire. And as Nkosi demurs they clearly had not read your submission.
I could not see which Sen other than the obvious but I will now read the Hansard, barrows being pushed but I'm nt sure by whom. Having said that the Sen's are entitled to assure themselves re motive. I think you sorted that well.
And what more is there to say about CASA. I have over the years actually given them the smoking gun, vids and witnesses of the act and body, without even a twitch and I know I am not alone.

Last time I attempted to ventilate this subject my post disappeared and I was excoriated and told to go play with my toys somewhere else. Make no mistake QF and it pains me to say it, is in deep trouble. Laying down huge smokescreens in order to retreat from the scene of imminent defeat and hopefully regroup is a well proven tactic in extremis.
The Government is desperate not to have to intervene or let them go, either alternative is fraught.
Thanks for that.

...blah blah blah...... What an absolute disappointment... It was well publicised that an A380 was doing the flypast before the start of the GP, and they turn up in this!!!...a real 3rd world attempt.
Steve
We may vote for different parties but I take my hat off to you for dealing so professionally with such a bunch of morons (Sen X excluded from that rant).
Sen Edwards, you sir are an ignorant, lazy, pribbling, ill-nurtured, moldwarp.
Stick with the facts and they will ultimately be the winning hand.

Joyce is so fixated on Virgin that he has completely lost the plot.
I forgive his inability to actually pronounce the company (one he professes to love) name correctly but I do not forgive his victim mentality.
He is certainly not the "man" to lead QF out of the woods. As to the CFO and CEO of JQ...I think a picture says a thousand words..again perhaps Shakespeare may do it best...qualling,surly, knotty-pated, skainsmates.

Steve,
You showed dignity, courage, (restraint!) and professionalism. Well done on your appearance before the Senate Enquiry.
What a shame some of the senators tried to make political mileage instead of listening to your detailed, well researched answers.
Outstanding work. It almost seems you are the only one standing up for Qantas. When we finally get rid of Joyce and the board, you will have been a big part in that.

Thanks for pointing out the irony.
One is never too old to learn that what unites us is far more important than anything else.
So many people in this industry have been so disgusted by what Joyce has done to QF (with board complicity) that politics pales into insignificance.

Just watched it, excellent work Steve. Apart from Senator X, how the hell do any of these other guys ever get a vote?
Senator XENOPHON: Mr Joyce, on 17 February 2011, in announcing half-yearly results, you said that Qantas improved yield by nine per cent, that it demonstrated a strong revenue recovery across both international and domestic businesses. Yet, on 22 June 2011, you said that Qantas international was forecast to generate a loss, before interest and tax, of approximately $200 million. Could you please explain what happened to the trading environment in 3½ months? What happened to Qantas international?
Mr Joyce : Sorry, Senator, could you give the dates again?
Senator XENOPHON: Sure. You made a statement on 17 February 2011 that Qantas improved yield by nine per cent. You also stated that it demonstrated a strong revenue recovery across both international and domestic businesses. Then, on 22 June 2011, you singled out the international component of Qantas for special attention, saying that Qantas international, in financial year 2011, was forecast to generate a loss, before interest and tax, of approximately $200 million. I am just trying to establish what occurred in that period from 17 February to 22 June 2011.
Mr Joyce : I think we will have to take that on notice because I do not remember the statements.

It gets worse the more you read it. He is not across his brief AT ALL. If I didn't hate the whole lot so much I would be embarrassed FOR them.
This guy gets $3m?? to sprout this drivel?
And VR-HFX I think the prize for the Most Creative Use of Adjectives to describe this contemptible rabble would have to go to you Sir! I am most impressed and humbly tug my forelock towards you! I haven't had a laugh on this for a while. My paltry repertoire of adjectives and expletives expired months ago, although I did give it fair serve in early Engagement Surveys, I am simply not worthy
I don't know how you cope Steve. I mean that sincerely.

Well handled Steve.
Amongst the senile dribble being sprouted across the floor for fear of losing chairman lounge access, your responses were clear, crisp and to the point. Like a good lager.

The guy is simply unbelievable!! He makes statements about the profitability or not of Qantas, ( we are not talking about loosing a set of car keys here ) and then says, I can't remember. That's the problem when you lie so much, you can't remember who you tols which lie to.
