The new Carbon Tax and off-shoring of aircraft
What effect will the newly announced Carbon Tax have on Aussie Airlines accelerating the off-shoring of their largest sources of carbon emmissions?
Is that what Leslie Grant is doing in Singapore.
Will this become the home of Qantas' largest carbon emmiters?(the A380)
Qantas "The Spirit of Singapore"?????
Thank God the powers to be in AIPA had the foresight to cancel the Qantas Sale Act Case at the last minute to prevent the Union wasting money on such a frivilous pursuit.
What ,with potentially this, Jetstar off-shoring, JetConnect etc, obviously a waste of resources.

Would imagine they'd hike the tax on to fuel, that way they catch all airlines as they leave Oz!

Mate if you think that Ju-Liar Gillard's new carbon TAX will save the world....wake up. It is another exercise in wealth distribution by stealth. Australia produces around 1% of global C02.

You will probably find that the rules were written in such a difficult-to-understand manner, that companies will need the assistance of CO2 brokers, charging a hefty fee for their expertise.
You will also probably find, that the people working at these brokers, are the same people who made the rules while in civil service a couple years ago....they of course understand them...
Does this sound cynical?

Normally I find myself disagreeing with TBM-Legend, but on this I back him 100%. This is a scam of monumental proportions, a redistribution of wealth, and no, I don't think many on this board will be on the winning side of this trade.
If you want to follow the history of the environmental movement, it is stems from the mid 60's. Con-incidentally, "The Report From Iron Mountain" was released at the same time. It basically called for, among other things the threat of or actual ecological disaster to control the masses in times of peace. This report has been also been derided as the "Most Successful Literary Hoax." Wikipedia supplies background material on this document.
There are numerous other analysis of the document around the web, for example this one.
To consider the current state of play & where we may be heading with the environmental movement, it is worth investigating & considering these tantalizing "hints" from the past. It would be unwise to simply dismiss it as a hoax. Read the report, pick up a newspaper & compare the two, it may send a chill down your spine.
