Why is Qantas engineering allowing some ex Newport Aviation alternative workforce employees to return Qantas engineering,
Surely the association would not be happy to see this happen.
I hope these persons of weak character realise that when it becomes common knowledge who they were previously employed they will not be welcome at the smoko table.

We have no problems building a bridge, most have. Only problem is we built it too long because the "Buggery Campaign" blurred the plans. The bridge was built 1000 klm long and it proving long and difficult to "get over it".
It just doesn't seem to be worth the effort to try. (because the buggery campaign lives on)

That is a bit rich ebt. To have to work with people who have actively shafted you and your fellow workmates for a short term gain,and now they return to the scene of the crime with a happy smiling face hoping that all is forgiven and forgotten.
I think something more than a bridge is required. Is this another way that the company wants to divide and conquer.

I must admit, I'm outside the situation so maybe what I said was a bit rich. The point I was trying to make is that the whole "us v them" situation this thread is setting up will not help anyone out. It wasn't the actual guys employed by Newport who shafted the QF guys - there was a bigger game going on. I don't see why you should hold it against an individual if they were involved. Is it possible that they were after an opportunity as well? And is it bad to go after an opportunity?
And really, is it going to return to the bad old days where there's a blacklist where people aren't employed because they side one way or don't? Are you really going to deny someone who has good skills on the tools a job because in the past they have themselves been pawns in a bigger game with other people pushing the pieces?

When will engineers learn, that its the year 2009! not 1989.. there is no such thing as staff loyalty.. get over it.. ex QF,ex Boing, ex RAAF, ex NAVY, ex Hawker, ex Ansett, ex Air NZ, ex BAE, ex Tennix, ex Sikorsky, ex Raytheon, ex Aerocare, the list goes on... i have worked for most of them, and beside staff who have worked for those listed above.
Who cares where their from! i don't care who i work for, who works for them.. as long as i get paid fair $$ for a fair days work..
after leaving QF 10 yrs ago, i quickly learned just how much QF is a Very sheltered workshop. not to mention the AMEs and other technical staff are Very underpaid. wonder if it has anything to do with the US Vs Them culture fostered within QF and the unions?
The only advantage to working for QF is the increased apparent Job security. oh and staff travel..... i would rather the extra $25K pa with BAE as an AME over staff travel any day.
sad thing is, in the aircraft maint industry, outside the red rat, QF staff are not highly regarded. sometimes the truth hurts, QF staff at other companies i have worked for never last long before being encouraged to "move on"
If QF offered a decent $$ i would be back there tomorrow, if i dont like it, i will move on... most inside the rat simply dont have the Balls to step out from under the blanket.

The truth might indeed hurt ultralights, but from what i've seen, most
lames leaving their 'sheltered workshops' actually do quite nicely.
Even the lazy fcukers and recalcitrant types seem to survive.
OTOH, our engineering 'managers' might well have problems working landside.

I haven't seen any advertising for new LAME positions. Maybe these new starters have been employed because of "the way they sided".

Nice blokes?? These guys were employed by "Newport Aviation Group" solely to perform the role of strike breakers during the recent QF Engineers EBA dispute. They were all made FULLY aware of any potential repercussions their actions may have on future employment opportunities and workplace acceptance. It is my understanding that ALLEGEDLY, there MAY be a blacklist of names that ALLEGEDLY, MAY have been distributed throughout numerous Engineering operations within Australia and the UK for personal perusal by select individuals.
Engineer aus, as you are aware of the depth, and strength of character these "nice blokes" possess I hope for your sake and that of your family, that you never have to rely on one of these "nice blokes" to help you maintain your current employment conditions.

EBT you have made my blood boil,nice blokes don't assist in trying to wreck your families income or their standard of living.
Secondly most of these type of people are useless and this is the only way they can get near an aircraft with a spanner.

there is a blacklist going around on the outside, but not for the reasons you expect, most outside organisations dont give a fcuk about union activity, or sikebreakers or whatever, you get on the blacklist through poor workmanship. you fcuk up, cost a company money in rectification costs etc, you get on the list. pretty simple really.

I think some have come back as casuals and some as AMEs. If they want their cake and to eat it as well that is their prerogative, but I want nothing to do with them.
I hope they turn up to work everyday feeling like sh1t. What sort of person shafts their mates and then asks to welcomed back with a smiley face.

i think we have two threads on here ....one is the alternate workforce comming back and the other is that qf engineers are not well regarded outside....well i agree that some of the guys who came back are the s#@bs that did take the judas money but there are some who just came back after their redundancy ...dont know who's who's in that mob.....as far as the qf lame's getting jobs else where well the ones that were no good in the sheltered workshop of qf are still no good outside and it follows them....but the ones who are good prosper and rise and good luck to them and i know the sh$t ones wish they had never left
