thanks for seeing my point and I too can understand yours and I know their are issues causing unrest in SH presently.
I have to repeat myself here just to stick up for myself.... roamingwolf and casualvermin, again, I never said AO were better than anyone else. Please go back and read my posts. I was just suggesting that our hard work would have been one factor that helped swing the decision the way it went.
Those of you attacking me seem to be dismantling a simple statement I made and suggesting I am being critical of other crew in the group. If you look at what I have said, I am not at all suggesting that.

Ditzyboy, you have posted a really long list of problems in short haul. Whilst I agree that all of these points may be an issue for some people, I really don't think that things are THAT bad.
I'm sure that the AO cabin crew will be a refreshing change, as they actually seem very positive about flying for short haul. AO have been operating services under the Qantas name for a while now, and Flightgirl is probably right, they do a great job, and this has been recognized by the company.
Its great for short haul to get 300 more permanents. We will get extra aircraft (even if they are clapped out 767's) and new flying routes. As our group becomes larger, we strengthen our position in the company, which will lead to more job security, and more diverse flying. There will always be a large casual workforce, but that is part and parcel of life in the 21st century!

What a ridiculously uninformed statement.
Gross, unrestricted casualisation is a political problem and the result of years of Liberal party power.
Think [if you can] before you vote.

I agree speedbird.
I am sick of this divided workforce, where we have all these different groups being employed and operating side by side singing their praises, by critisising the rest of us.
Yes, AO crew have always been part of the "group" and do a good job... no different to the rest of us. But weather people are casual, AO, J*, overseas base - they all have one common factor and that is they all claim to be better/more positive/refreshing (insert appropriate adj) than mainline.
Our position is not becoming stronger, it is becoming weaker. It is evident everytime I go to work. The list that ditzyboy posted is rather accurate. Of course it does not weigh for everyone, I for example am not directly affected by the casuals having different contracts, but it is line with the "divide and conquer" strategy that has been adopted by our illustrious leaders.

But we are Flight Attendants! Of course we are better than (insert appropriate adj)
Anyway - who cares! The workers united will never be defeated.. Lets talk about more exciting things, like...
Whens ya next trip?
You got leave comin' up?
You havin' the chicken?

CokeCropDuster -
If you read earlier post made by myself you will see that I sing praises for Language Speakers and the hard work they have cut out for them.

The list I created was issues I have observed. They are not neccessarily issues for me. Very few of the are, in fact.

Hi Ditzy, Just directed the question at you because you brought it up. It wasn't supposed to be an attack on you. I am just very interested in why some crew are feeling this way..

Looks like someone has hacked CIS
Rumours suggest that applications for NEW Longhaul CSM and CSS positions are being advertised on CIS for Australian based crew.
I will believe it when I see them in uniform.........

Interesting point by Speedbird...Perhaps the VR move by the company was also to make room for the returnees from the LHR experiment.
