The full, public brief was released yesterday (Weds), not Monday. There was a precis with headline points, no details, given out on Monday.

Maybe the Union realised that if anything had been mentioned on Monday to our management (as courtesy), before the full public release, chances are management would have 'forgotten' to tell the union

Just because Sky reports it, doesn't mean it is Gospel...

The link points to the governments "Smarter Government" paper which clearly says that there is a restriction to selling shares until the two centre strategy is complete.

http://www.hmg.gov.uk/media/52715/oe...tportfolio.pdf

I hadn't realised that the share position was protected until then and am a little suspicious of the statement. The timing looks a bit convenient to me.

Incidentally, I think that this document was published on Monday - just as Sky News said it would be.

Apologies if someone else has posted this but I didn't see it in the thread.

Although many of the terms of the PPP agreement have never been made public it has been common knowledge for some time that the Airline Group had agreed not to sell its share until after the New Prestwick Centre was complete. I don't think anybody could have engineered a public finance crisis to correspond with the NPC operational data so I think its just a coincidence.

The writers of the Asset Portfolio seem to have recognised that there only real chance of selling any of the Government's share would be as part of a deal that includes the Airline Group's holding. Prior to that some of us had wondered why anybody would bother to buy the Government shares when they won't give control of the company and are unlikely to provide a reasonable return on the investment.

And yes it was published on Monday, freely available on line after the statements in the Commons and Lords and available on the NATS Intranet before that.

Being cynical, maybe NATS have engineered the NPC operational date to fall within the public finance crisis! Quite straightforward to drag out a project until a market dip...

Once this project started it would have been impossible to drag things out. Perhaps the change from NSC to PC was dragged out but once PC started it gained it's own momentum!
