I thought I was bright.... obviously not.
Someone should tell AsA we're here to move traffic, not qualify for a Nobel prize in advanced mathematics and statitics....

BOK2GO,
It's the Queensland Reds! They're based in Brisbane.
Shift patterns are typically:
Typical FPC roster cycle: Afternoon, Afternoon, morning, night (we call it a doggo), followed by 2 days off.
Variations of this pattern in other groups.

ASA Tests
Hi mate, I've just done the on line tests and you're certainly not alone, part 2 was a nightmare and certainly nothing like I've experienced in ATC. I think they're designed to induce panic
Part 3 was pretty hard as well I thought and definately above advanced aptitude books I've looked at.

CLUCKING BELLS!!!
Ok, the first test I can understand, although I think it may have been pitched a little high.
The third test - fair enough, I suppose.
But the second test - what on earth was that all about?!
I'm an ATCO, not a statistician! I left school over 20 yrs ago & the only times I worry about percentages are on my payslip & my tax return! Aarrgh!
I really don't know what ASA want. MENSA members by the looks of things. Hats off to the Aussies if that's what they had to go through before training, but me?
Standby for name-change to "Mr Thicky" !!!

What!!?? Aren't you guys members of MENSA?
Neither is anyone else, so you should be okay. I think the test is: if you're smart enough to pass the test than you SHOULDN"T be an ATC.

a quote from ASA:
Our selection procedure requires that candidates do as well as 70% or above when compared to the general population as this is the range our currently employed Air Traffic Controllers fall into
Good luck all.

I suspect that they're trying to get a group of controllers with similar experience and training backgrounds to run a conversion course. It can't be easy trying to tie it all together.

I guess the Middle East is perfect for you
P.S For all UAE Expats reading this GMP has cartons of VB on sale in Abu Dhabi for 85 dirhams ($28 Aussie, which is less than I paid in Liquorland Melbourne on my last trip home).

Sorry I'm partial to green death as you call it, but Crownies are available here albeit for 125 dirhams a case ($41 Aussie). Much to my Taswegian next door neigbours disgust no Boags or Cascade on offer in Abu Dhabi.
