I seem to be seeing Lufthansa doing LH950 on a Friday.
But how come it is down for a 17.10 departure when Flightradar says dep 16:25 and arr 17:10?

And it also shows LH951 also leaving on a Friday, eg tomorrow, at 17:50???

Am I missing something with Geneva stat? I thought only flights were Jet2 with a weekly flight so how do we get over 3000 pax?

Maybe Vueling might look at Malaga as summer flights are pitiful this year.

Pretty sure TUI did NCL-GVA weekly as a ski route.

On another note, what’s up with the 16 for Cape Verde? And which Cape Verde airport is that?

The Cape Verde flights were Corendon Europe flts originating in Copenhagen - been a few recently, ships crews I believe? Agree that TUI have been doing GVA as well.

On the TUI thread someone has put together the entire program which showed 1 Max and 3x 738 at NCL plus W flights. The above comments re Freebird made me think that this may have been refined or is it even more flights? Seems too good to be true after the recent few years.

From the 1st May we’ll have 4 based a/c. Not sure on how many MAX/NG’s. Looking further ahead looking up to 12 flights per day. Including the W’s and the Dreamliners which will be up to 6 times per week in peak summer.

BA have certainly got the knife out when it comes to NCL-LHR this Summer. From the initial schedule of up to 7 per day, we are down to a maximum of five and very often just three (or even on one date I looked at, two) per day. Looks like they have given up on point to point traffic this summer end giving all the capacity over to connecting flows. Hope this doesn’t permanently damage the route.

Beatts

They are struggling with operational issues namely people resourcing, airport capacity constraints and unstable IT systems. So they are going to be curbing capacity by cancelling around 60 flights a day. Inverness has also seen a large chop of flights not just us.

If Newcastle was struggling to recruit/retain ATCOs pre pandemic then that situation will be much worse now, to advertise/recruit/validate someone new minimum 9 months and often over a year if Radar controller needed. I would guess that there is no pool of qualified controllers looking to move after the last couple of years…..

A major travel company has been forced to apologise after passengers arrived in Florida to find that their luggage was over 4,000 miles away in Newcastle. Holidaymakers arrived at Melbourne Orlando International Airport on Monday only to learn that their luggage had not been loaded onto the plane at Newcastle International Airport. Some passengers say they were left without pushchairs, baby formula, nappies and medication due to the error.

OK - sh*t happens and I'm sure there is more to this than meets the eye, but I'm curious as to how you miss a 787 worth of bags at Newcastle?

It boiled down to TUI not loading enough containers on the 787 inbound and NCL not stocking them with no other ways to secure the bags in the hold for transit.

For example no pallets or cargo nets and no net retaining system in a hold designed for pallets/containers.

Added to the restriction in the bulk hold for weight and balance purposes.

Hopes this clarifies the situation.

It would appear that there remain issues in respect of baggage handling at NCL .
This years flight schedules provide for a number of returning flights that arrive back c.01.00 the following morning.
Case in point last Friday there were five 738's 4xJet2 & 1xTUI that arrived around same time. However the TUI disembarked first & were first through security & into the baggage hall, followed by the pax from the four other Jet2 aircraft.
What then ensued was that the TUI pax had to stand around for an hour & a half whilst all four JET2 flights luggage came through first. An irate conversation then ensued with the baggage supervisor on duty who informed them that JET2 had their own baggage handler whereas TUI used Swissport?....
So what's this all about ?

It was usual to be able to bulk load Hold bags on wide bodies like the 767, DC-10 and Tri-Star - just wondered why you cannot on the 787>?

It operates to enough remote holiday airports that the question of always having enough 'cans' available thus could be an issue.
or you carry the empties with you....

Is it (a 787) too fragile to lump the bags straight in the hold>?

So what's this all about ?

Its about the choice Jet2 and TUI have made. Jet2 have their own ground and baggage staff at many UK airports (but not all, I don't think) and even at some European ports too. They handle Jet2 and only Jet2 flights. This is very much against the trend in the industry where the function is usually outsourced to 'experts' - ground handling companies. Because of razor-thin margins in the industry, Swissport is the only company left at a lot of airports. For employees T&C's aren't great, physical work in unergonomic conditions or aircraft holds, in all weather.

We must consider that pre-pandemic, Thomas Cook Airlines represented a huge amount of capacity between UK airports and Turkey / Greece for the leisure market. They didn't do much to Spain. If those countries want to attract UK tourists in similar numbers going forward, someone has to backfill that lost volume of airseats. The Turkish carriers have taken on that challenge. With Thomas Cook gone, there is a gap for them to fill. TUI and Jet2 can only do so much. They don't need to reinvent the market. Just pick up some of those customers displaced by the loss of Thomas Cook Airlines.

Yes, that's correct. It will be on behalf of TUI Lakes and Mountains. They have operated GLA-SZG charter flights for several years now. The aircraft will operate GLA-SZG-NCL-SZG-GLA on Saturdays. Think this is the first time they have operated the NCL route, in the past it has been operated by TUI and before that flybe.

They did sell tickets for those flights so if it was pre-planned having to now cancel them and rebook or refund customers is not great PR for a company trying to establish themselves at NCL.

It transpires that there was a complete disaster at NCL this morning insofar as fuel availability is concerned. Very surprised that only one comment re this mess,.
For clarity AT LEAST ELEVEN departures from NCL this morning diverted (EMA x7), (STN x3) , (CGN x1), there may be many more................
Is this due to industrial unrest, & is it ongoing / resolved ?
A significant number of NCL pax affected by this mess, insofar as returning flights then significant delays already eg. LS514 from HER looking like 4 hours due to delays at STN.

How the hell did the airport allow this to happen & who foots the bill for this mess? It must have cost the airlines concerned a fair amount in wasted fuel and landing costs never mind delay compensation costs for retuning customers

Do we know if it was lack of fuel or lack of staff to refuel aircraft? Either way a real mess as others have said. I blame it on the lack of supply drivers outside the airfield. No glue specialists about the north east. I do not blame the airport. I blame Boris and the Monkey hangers that caused this.

I have just done LH to LEJ via FRA return and yes the extra seats on the E190 must be good as the CRJ900 was full on way out and very nearly full coming back! But I must say personal preference is for the CRJ900! It really could do with going double daily, Especially when BA first choice for cutbacks is domestic!

Has something changed these last few days or has their luck just run out?

While I don't expect the new Flybe to be around by 2025 and I'm sure it's a basket case. Newcastle - Belfast isn't a daft market to get into and there is enough to go round.

That's all very well if all you want to do is go to Paris and back but hard luck if you have a connecting flight as I learned to my cost recently (not to mention they are Tweeting the problems they are having with getting baggage to passengers).
I am sure NCL knows full well it and its reputation is only as good as the airlines it serves and after my last 2 long haul trips I have vowed never to fly with AF or KLM again so I will have to go to LHR to find a reliable airline that can keep to a timetable.
Which means, of course, that NCL has lost me as a customer through no fault of its own.

Operates for Fed Ex. The B.734F replaced the ASL Atr-72 that used to route CDG-NCL-GLA-NCL-CDG from the start of the summer season. Now routes CDG-EDI-NCL-EDI-CDG, so day-stops at NCL.

On a different tack, I'm just back from a bike ride in the Rothbury/Elsdon area and both the BBC and Met agreed that it would be clear blue skies with no rain all morning.

Isn't this 'telling us again" rather than 'announcing" , thought these were already on sale?

Ryanair will fly six new routes from Newcastle International Airport as part of its largest ever winter schedule from the North East. Sun seekers and city breakers are being offered flights to Barcelona, Cork, Bergamo, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Riga. All destinations will see twice weekly flights using the airline's two aircraft that are permanently based at Newcastle.

Speaking to ChronicleLive, Jason McGuinness, Ryanair director of commercial, said: "The Newcastle team are exceptionally good and exceptionally proactive. Richard Knight and his team have done a great job and they're reaping the rewards in terms of the continuation of the Ryanair two base aircraft into winter. All through summer when we had lots of chaos at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester etc - Newcastle performed exceptionally well, like ourselves. They run a very good, tight ship there."

I have to say I am enjoying travelling through Newcastle a lot more than I used to.

I've found security far more efficient - it works better when the queue is manned but I've not waited more than 5 minutes on several trips this summer and the car park ops are spot on. Even Border Force have been pretty efficient.

My only tiny criticisms:

There stil isn't quite enough seating around the terminal when all the charter bucket and spade flights head out.
The old WH Smith/Aspire entrance by the Gates - that whole area looks very dark shabby and would be nice as a quieter waiting area.
The same goes for gate corridors etc - just needs a bit of TLC I feel.
Shame the old arcade area went - the airport has had one for as long as I can remember - used to enjoy taking the grandkids in but looks no more! Would be nice for kids to have more to do (if I can peel away their tablets -which might be the problem)
I've had to queue for the toilets each time - another set may be handy! Space I guess may be an issue?

With interest rates as they are and a balance sheet that has been heading oneway over the last few years, who is going to pick up the tab?
Currently Newcastle is a £400m black hole owned by the North East tax payer!

Despite all the reported difficulties AMS and CDG virtually identical to 2019, as is DUS. Aberdeen massively down, as is Southampton - about a third of 2019. Maybe that might have been a better chaoice for BE...

Interesting to see TK have added NCL to 'where we fly from' Unfortunately the flights are not loaded at the moment.United Kingdom flight detailsTurkish Airlines flies to five different locations in United Kingdom: Edinburgh (https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-gb/flights/flights-to-edinburgh/), Birmingham (https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-gb/flights/flights-to-birmingham/), London (https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-gb/flights/flights-to-london/) (two different airports), Manchester (https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-gb/flights/flights-to-manchester/) and Newcastle.

London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is regarded as the busiest airport serving in United Kingdom with the number of 76 million passengers per year. The second busiest airport is Gatwick Airport (LGW) which is also in London, serving to 43 million passengers each year. Manchester Airport (MAN) reaches the annual passenger number of 23 million as the third busiest airport countrywide.

Direct flights by Turkish Airlines from Istanbul Airport (IST) take four to four and a half hours in average. The points of destination vary as Birmingham Airport (BHX), London Gatwick Airport (LGW), London Heathrow Airport (LHR), Manchester Airport (MAN) and Newcastle International Airport (NCL).

Lets hope this comes to fruition.
