Amount of destinations?

Because the 5% need brought back from different places asap, rather than over 7 or 14 days per their original plans.

If this is an IAG backed or based take over why use Qatar aircraft to position to UK to repatriate pax from overseas locations?
Why not use Monarchs's existing fleet, if you are buying the shop?
If not why position them to UK if the pax that require repatriating are overseas down line? Or have I missed something?

cornishsimon 1st October 2017 20:34

Regardless what's going on here. My thoughts are with the boys and girls working for ZB. Whatever happens they all have bills and mortgages to pay. This isn't nice for them. Good luck all.

Liffy 1M 1st October 2017 20:35

I count six Qatar A320s currently on FR24 with QTR32.. or QTR34.. flight numbers, and en route to the UK, according to the site.

Aircart 1st October 2017 20:36

Sounds odd to me.
Why not fly into stn where the rested crew are?
Anyway The crew could position directly to destination and go to the hotel to rest?
Don't make sense

Well said cornishsimon.

They go on remotes anyway at MAN, Monarch are the biggest user of the new bussing lounge owing to the MANtp

QR3455, 3253, 3255, 3257 all in a line on the way to STN as we speak.

Aircart 1st October 2017 20:41

Most of our a/c go on remote stands at night at BHX so nothing strange there!
Anyone seen any snow ploughs yet?

Because the aircraft are leased by the CAA.
The crews are already in the UK.
If IAG take over the airline then those aircraft won't be needed.

The crew need to be based in UK for the operation. LGW may be the best area for the crew to be and planned parking availability. Repatriation flights wouldn't be over in a day. Monarch Holidays covers a large network as i'm sure you are aware. The incoming QR crew will rest and be able to operate on the aircraft from Tuesday onwards as the aircraft continue to return to the UK. There are already some crews on hand rested to take out the aircraft ex-UK to wherever neccessary.

I'm still wishing the very best for Monarch and as ever it's great dedicated staff. However i wish shame on greybull and shame on the board of directors!

It doesn't bring them back asap

...according to the CAA
"If you are abroad, it should make arrangements to bring you home at the end of your trip"

But whats that 5% split over 40 or so destinations and 5 bases? Not enough to fill a 320 - let alone a 330?

southside bobby 1st October 2017 20:52

The AvgasDinousaur
Monarch`s existing fleet will not be owned by MON, they will belong to the lessors who almost certainly will be owed payment on them & who could well have different ideas to any prospective MON purchaser. The administrators/receivers would also be in the mix as will the landing airfield for fees, the a/c could be impounded until someone pays up...The fleet will also be on MON`s AOC.
All adds up to not a quick turn from MON in the morning to A.N Other in the afternoon say...Doesn`t work like that....More expedient to charter in.
