ATOL renewal got anything to do with 6-8 QR A320's being ferried in to STN? (think UA 744's last year, and nothing to do with BA strikes)
|
Why would they ferry them to STN when MON don't operate there?
|
Neither does BA...
|
Not for Monarch.....think Thomas Cook folks.
|
Maybe they are going to help out Ryanair now that Michael is going to have to pay compensation as they should have done in the first place.
|
From what I understand they have been brought in by BA but confused as no planned / reported industrial action is on the cards

Have you been living in a cave this last few days?
He has sent out 20000 e-mails today detailing the full compensation information which he should have given in the first place. :ugh: Hence the CAA stepping in. |

If Norwegian are involved then double daily will be to SWF not JFK the numbers on a narrow body don't add up for JFK across the Atlantic, I have also heard mention of LGW to SWF, I know one of the directors of stagecoach who operate the shuttle between SWF and Manhaatan and he had been told that there would be multiple new routes out of SWF to be announced within days by Norwegian on the max.
It's also telling that Norwegian have yet to publish a summer program from LGW to the costas, Monarch as a brand operated by Norwegian might bring better returns. |
Daily Mail reporting that CAA have staff on standby in case Monarch's ATOL isn't renewed...

Monarch airline may be close to collapse
Ministers are braced for the possibility of a British airline collapsing over the coming days, The Times has learnt. Cross departmental meetings have been held in Whitehall to draw up contingency plans in case Monarch Airlines is grounded immediately. One source said that talks had been held in Cobra, the emergency government briefing room. Monarch, the fifth biggest British-based carrier, has refused to comment on speculation that it may fold. The airline, which expects to carry a total of about six million passengers this year from Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Gatwick and Luton, has admitted that it is undertaking a “comprehensive review” of its operations. This is believed to involve talks with airlines such as Easyjet and Wizzair to take over its short-haul business. If the airline failed that could leave British holidaymakers stranded across Europe and many EU citizens could also be marooned in the UK.......... |
I was told this was likely earlier this week. I can't see how this talk of long haul can happen, unless it is a new airline utilising the Monarch name.

Whitehall? Ministers? Cobra?
Really? Drama! What utter tosh (unless Whitehall are of course STILL waiting for a reason as to why the CAA wasted £millions of tax payers money this time last year)? |
Somebody around Monarch likes to play games - after last years shenanigans we now have MAX schedules to NYC being floated one day then the next government rescue plans. Sad. :(
