Disappointed to see Flybe still have not released their sun routes for next year, and that the social networking team are not being given any useful information to pass on to passengers (first it was 'middle of Nov, then the 15th, then the 25th now 'around the 25th). I understand they may be taking some time to finalise but considering how many people have enquired about them on their Facebook page they really should be able to provide a clearer answer to passengers, as Im sure many people will only wait so long before booking elsewhere...

Maybe Flybe are not confident of still being around next summer.

Flybe are sitting on £150million of cash from their recent fund raise so I reckon that both they, and plenty of other very well respected financial institutions that stumped up the cash, think Flybe will be around for many years to come. Let's not forget that this airline has it's foundations back in 1979 and is still here 35yrs later.

In terms of summer sun flights, Flybe have said for some time now that the Embraer 195's are being phased out of the fleet and I've not seen an announcement with regards to whether these have left the fleet or not. Of course it's frustrating (I'd much rather travel on Flybe and the Embraer, than be squashed in 3 abreast on another carrier), but I guess I'd be even more miffed if Flybe were to announce sun flying for next year only to cancel their flights should a buyer come along for the 195's. In the end, I guess we all have an option from another airport so it's down to each of us to decide what we do, not Flybe.

FLYBE SIGNS WHITE LABEL AGREEMENT WITH SAS

Flybe today announces that it has signed a white-label agreement to fly services for SAS, Scandinavia's largest carrier.

Flybe will operate four ATR72-600 aircraft on behalf of SAS with initial operations due to start in October 2015.

The aircraft, which will operate under Flybe's Airline Operating Certificate (AOC), will be used on short-haul SAS services in Europe and are being provided with full flight and cabin crew as well as maintenance.

The agreement is for a period of six years with scope for it to be extended and also for a further four aircraft to be brought into service as required.

SAS carries around 30 million passengers per year to destinations in Europe, USA and Asia.

Saad Hammad, Flybe's Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are delighted to announce this agreement with SAS which provides a turn-key regional capacity solution. This white label agreement with Scandinavia's largest carrier confirms Flybe's twin-engine growth strategy and we are excited about its long-term potential. We look forward to starting operations in Scandinavia next year."

Chief Operating Officer Flemming Jensen, SAS, said: "It's always a great pleasure to take in brand new aircraft in our traffic. We already have very good experiences with the ATR turboprop, and our customers can look forward to high quality and a pleasant and joyful journey with Flybe for SAS. This agreement means that SAS' production can become even more effective and we also streamline our fleet with respect to the type of aircraft external carriers fly for us."

That must be one of the daftest one-liners I've read on this forum in recent times - even if it was written tongue in cheek.

Apart from being stupid, it will also potentially shock / frighten some employees to the core.

Where do these ATR72s come from? Newly acquired, leased-in?

They will be based, btw, at ARN to serve routes to Visby, Turku and Kalmar, partially replacing Jettime ATR72s. Quite interesting move, as I was under the impression that SAS was propping up Jettime big time.

Don't think this has been posted but FlyBe have announced that they are going to operate 3X daily weekdays from Belfast City to LPL, with 1X daily at w/e starting February 2nd.

Still no sign of the holes in the Summer 2015 schedule. Anyone have any idea when these routes will go on sale? I also noticed Brest has gone off the route map and booking engine, is it no-longer or will it be in the network of the routes to be released?

It's annoying at this stage. They keep pushing the release date further away and they will not confirm which routes are staying operational.
The latest from them is that there is a delay (we can see that) and to just keep checking the website, it shouldn't be long more until the release.

By which point any passengers who were considering flying on Flybe's sun routes will have booked elsewhere and then Flybe will say the routes are uneconomic due to low bookings and then cancel them... All a problem of Flybe's own making......

What are the chances of some of the summer routes being transferred from Southampton to Bournemouth or other summer routes being announced from BOH? It seems Ryanair have dropped a few routes from BOH so maybe Flybe see an opportunity to offer summer routes to places like Spain, Italy?

I'm not an expert at all, just wondering if this is a possibility?

While Flybe has been turning a profit on flights provided on a contract-only basis, it lost money on eight joint venture routes that fed Finnair’s lucrative long-haul services, Chief Executive Officer Saad Hammad said in an interview. The Exeter-based company has signed a new contract-based deal with an unspecified major European carrier starting from 2015, he added.

Nice to see BE (and indeed BA) taking the fight to the easyJets and Ryanairs rather than shrinking back.

It is very difficult for Flybe with the E195 to compete with the lower seat mile costs of the aircraft used by RYR and EZY. One reason why the E195 is leaving the Flybe fleet.

Second it is also difficult for Flybe to 'warm up ' a route with the risk that RYR and Ezy sweep in afterwards with a bigger brand and very low costs. Flybe already said publicly that they cannot compete from Exeter against the LCC at Bristol.

SOU is about the same distance from LGW and even closer to RYR at BOH.

Third Flybe is concentrating on Dash 8 operations.

At least at SOU the runway is too short for reliable year round ops to distant locations by either RYR or EZY. But the Low Cost competition from LGW, BOH and even LHR limits the pax appeal and market for Flybe anyway.

BHX and MAN compete directly with LCC, so unlikely there either.

So it seems logical that there will be little or no Flybe med destinations in 2015.

Seems to me the company has set a sensible new course and is making reasonable progress.
