Any chance of Dundee getting an Atis, I am sure that the Tower has better things to do than give weather reports

baggagebill 17th August 2007 09:27

That will be why it was saying the flight was full then !! Buggers, disrupted my week.....

They could win me back with a route to dublin or amsterdam !!!

Quick calculation of Whoosh load factors based on CAA provisional stats:
  • Belfast: June 19%, July 40%
  • Birmingham: June 25%, July 38%
  • Overall: June 23%, July 39%

flew DND - BHX yesterday.

Two seats behind me out of action.

My seat very wobbly. Could anyone comment on safety aspects of this.
flight just under 50% full. Can only guess the broken seats not needed very often.

Any updates on load factors for whoosh from recent months? With the overall leap from June to July it would interesting to see how numbers are now the routes are pretty established. I hope the recent blip of changing the timetables "to meet demand" and swiftly reverting back to the original times hasn't done any damage :ugh:

Also see the proposed HIAL takeover was deferred until December, hope there is nothing untoward in this. Be interesting to see what transpires route wise (hopefully) once they are in charge.

Arabs in the semis?! ;)

Would be nice to see T3 retry services from Dundee, or someone like City Star, who seem to be going from strength to strength, basing a 328 there.

There MUST be demand for likes of MAN, & other regional centres.

Would be nice if someone persevered, I'm sure it would be a success.

ps. Dons in the semis??!! :uhoh: :uhoh: :ok:

Whoosh loads seem a bit variable. I have seen 10 or 11. I've seen 20+. Just seems the ATR is a little too big, wonder what the break even is? They might be better with a smaller type. There is definately some demand there.

Load Factors

I believe the load factors on the DND-BHX are around 38-40%. Still a little on the low side, especially after the summer break when business travel should have picked up.

Whoosh Loads

Just been catching up so only now getting to reply about Whoosh loads.
I work at BHX and the evening service to DND often has 30+ and sometimes even 40 on board. Only last week, there was 3 occasions with over 37 pax so those loads are good. They have 45 seats and that is a good factor.
Trouble is they cant fight FlyBe on the mornings from BHX and often they get just 10-15. OUCH!
Not sure what the answer is as pax seem to like what they do. There just isnt enough of them going north yet in the morning!!!

silverknapper 25th November 2007 16:06

What would people be prepared to pay though for a MAN service ex DND?

Dundee Airport now a part of Highlands and Islands now, just wondering if anyone has heard of any news about more routes ?

Flywhoosh loads a lot better, what about a 146 on the LCY route now its cityjet ?

the_fish@blueyonder. 2nd December 2007 16:31

I went past Dundee airport today, (was going to lunch at the marmalade pot for anyone who knows the area ) saw the Whoosh and City Jet aircraft aswell as a City star D328 by the hangar.

Anyone know why this was in?

baggagebill 2nd December 2007 21:25

My guess would be for maintenance as scot airways engineering do a lot of major maintenance work various operators.

I was in at marmalade pot yesterday, seen a nice shine highlands and islands fire engine racing up and down runway......

baggagebill 5th December 2007 09:49

Eastern Airways Saab 2000 operating out of Dundee just now, anyone know anything about it ?

simoncorbett 5th December 2007 10:39

saab 2000

it was operating into bhx as i think the atr is broken ?

baggagebill 6th December 2007 10:37

Rumours that all not well with Flywhoosh ? Heard that the airline they lease a/c and crew from may be pulling plug. (White Eagle?)

virginblue 6th December 2007 11:19

Flywhoosh is simply the brand name under which the Polish aircraft owner (WEA) operates in the UK. If there is any truth in the rumour, it simply means that WEA (the airline) will stop its UK operation.

Whoosh not whooshing!

My parents were booked to fly with Whoosh today (Thurs) from Dundee to BHD. Flight cancelled. Very senior citizens have to wait around for four hours then get bussed to EDI for the 1855 FlyBe.
"What's up Doc?"

Dundee Courier reports today that the aircraft is U/S and awaiting parts.
