3 x SF340 at CAX today? Something’s gone wrong then.

ES-NSC hasn't flown since however. Maybe just trying to make the Apron look active for the publicity shots? Far fetched, but not out of the question.

Or perhaps need for a G- aircraft operating on Loganair AOC as more appropriate as Secretary of State for Transport (Chris Grayling) apparently a passenger on the inaugural Southend flight?

mmeteesside 4th Jul 2019 18:18

I had a ride on ES-NSD over from Belfast and nice to see it was very tidy internally considering the age and smaller aircraft generally harder to look impressive anyway.
Did notice LGNC sat on the ramp at Carlisle and what I thought was another Nyx aircraft on the far side - good of them to presumably station a spare one in Carlisle should anything go wrong.
Healthy loads it seemed for me on the first one, 21 from Carlisle to Belfast and 16 on the return Belfast to Carlisle and I’m told the Southend departure afterwards was ‘full’. Did ‘NC operate this as just noticed it heading back to Glasgow after presumably operating the Southend. Wonder if this was down to Nyx only having one set of crew for day one, with the other set having brought in the spare?

I don't think that halfwit would know whether it is New York or New Year! Don't forget, this was the man who awarded a contract to a ferry company with no ferries!!

BAladdy 8th Jul 2019 08:44

Does anyone know if the Nyx aircraft is operated by Nyx flight and cabin crew?.

fjencl 8th Jul 2019 09:00

NYX flight deck and a loganair cabin crew

Scottie Dog 8th Jul 2019 09:29

According to the CARLISLE thread the cabin crew are Newcastle based Loganair.

NorthEasterner 9th Jul 2019 08:42

Yes crew are NCL based for the time being.

I believe Loganair were planning on opening a base in Carlisle but this was shelved/ delayed due to the late opening of the airport. Anyone know of any plans or timescale to do so in the future?

scodaman 12th Jul 2019 20:50

Loganair had serious problems yesterday 11-07-2019 due to a failure with IT systems with online/offlline checking closed for many hours which caused serious delays across their network. Was all over Twitter but thankfully it did not make mainstream news.

I'm currently flying Aberdeen - Norwich a lot with my job. The flights are marketed/sold by flybe, but "operated by Eastern Airways". My last 3 round trips, all services have been operated by Loganair (Embraer 135 or 145), causing great confusion amongst passengers. Check in at flybe desk, boarding pass says operated by Eastern Airways, actual plane is Loganair.

Anyone know what arrangement is going on??

CandyBender 12th Jul 2019 21:47

I wonder if the cabin crew are "dual based".....Jet 2 used to dual base at BLK/MAN and the distance between NCL & CAX is pretty much the same.

Yes - it's an Eastern Airways flight, operating as a franchisee of Flybe and using an aircraft leased from Loganair.

Funny how Loganair are starting their own route to Norwich in September, citing poor reliability/punctuality from Eastern Airways. And now they're covering for Eastern Airways before their own flights commence haha.

This aspect has already been discussed at length further up the thread in posts 545-552.

London City want LM to switch there current DND flights back to there airport.

pamann 15th Jul 2019 15:14

their airport.

They’ll lose the EK connection at STN.

Apart from the shorter distance to some parts of London, what are the benefits of moving the route back to City?

I would have thought there would be more of a chance of the route shifting to SEN over City tbh.

AirportPlanner1 15th Jul 2019 16:09

I was looking at the CAA stats and they might give Loganair some confidence about moving DND to SEN...

The Aberdeen route from LCY carried 3,263 pax in May 2018. This year Loganair’s new SEN service carried 2,411 after starting on May 12th so on average load that equates to 3,568 across whole month. That is the equivalent of taking all LCY’s pax AND finding themselves a few more. Of course it’s early days, but you’d naturally expect what is effectively a replacement route to what is perceived a distant airport to attract less people in its first month, not more.

ajamieson 15th Jul 2019 16:28

Presumably it's more about attracting the right people rather than the highest number. LCY more appealing to those seeking inward investment and connectivity to London. If anyone in Dundee wants EK they can just go down the road to EDI.
