What complicates things now is pre EU it was mostly State carrier in each country. Now you have airlines operating across Europe and this is where the problem lies.

Personally I can't see much divergence from open skies (or anything) for that matter once we leave.

Would you really like to go back to an early 70s model of air travel? Surely we can agree that the EU single market and the open skies arrangements for aviation have been good for the UK customer? Both in value for money and variety of routes. In that sense because of the EU we have benefited massively.Don't forget how much LCC traffic depends on an SMEs trading in Europe as well as freedom of movement as people visit friends and family. Something to think about before we turn our back on our biggest trading partner.

Advice Please

New here so please be kind and hopefully this is the right place to ask. I'm looking to fly to Lanzarote in Nov but need to return on Dec 1st it's a Saturday. Living in Jersey obviously I need to go via Gatwick and those flights are on sale Via BA and currently are nice and cheap and I would like to book. If I remember rightly from last year during winter months the flights from Lanzarote to LGW were not always daily. I would like to book my Jer-LGW return flights but am worried that when the EasyJet flights to Lanzarote go on sale they may not operate on Saturdays. The best EasyJet can tell me is that they will be online in April !! By then the Jer-lgw will be very expensive. Does anyone know from past experience if they operate on Saturdays.

LGWAlan 15th Feb 2018 13:35

The Saturday ACE-LGW does not land back into LGW until 2310. There won't be a LGW-JER that late. Overnight at LGW and book yourself LGW-JER on the first BA the Sunday morning which is on sale and wide open.

Why are you so keen to book with BA now?

When LGW-ACE goes on sale, in April, so will easyJet LGW-JER, and if you get on release, they will be dirt cheap too.

In fact, if you do the whole thing on a single booking, you'll save a few quid on the booking fee element. Problem solved

Not sure whether this should be here or on the SLF thread.
Was due to fly easyjet yesterday evening Luton to the S of France.
Flight cancelled, reasons unclear.
Nobody, but nobody, in charge of telling over a hundred pax what to do.
Essentially the message was ‘You are on your own, sort out your own hotels, transport and book your own flights with us or some other airline and we’ll argue reimbursement later’ - unfortunately no-one was available or able to communicate that simple message until each of us had reached the head of a huge queue.
Surely staff must be trained on how to collectively address a large number of pax on what their possible options are?

Easyjet is a lowcost airline, i.e you get what you pay for, so when things go wrong, there are simply no staff to deal with it.

I suppose the white stuff on the ground and the endless news reports and advisories of bad weather went in noticed then.

The information was out there from early on, depends on those choosing to ignore it though or be spoon fed individual info.

Actually No, the weather at Luton wasn’t bad at all and if you’d had the opportunity to look at the departures and arrivals, as I did, there was little or no delay on other flights. Also the easyjet app was sadly lacking in info.
That’s why a substantial number of pax, all with internet access were surprised.
I’m not moaning about the cancellation just the way it was handled.

Some of the airports in the South of France have been closed or had restrictions due to snow, lack of parking spaces and limited de-icing equipment.

I looked at a flight in question that had been cancelled to NCE... there was an explanation...

It was something along the lines off due to Snow in Europe your aircraft had been held up in another airport...

I think that pretty much says what happened does it not?

Whereabouts and when ?
I couldn’t find it (OK I looked in the wrong places perhaps) but the easyjet staff didn’t know either.
As I said earlier, I’m not whinging about the cancellation, just the lack of info.

Just arrived in Nice.
The EZY Captain on today’s flight said there’d been de-icer problems in Nice in the last few days, and also the flight yesterday from Luton was cancelled.
Sounds like stuff beyond EZY’s control.
I’m insured so (hopefully) not a problem- otherwise I’m wasting money on Travel Insurance

Just opened the Crémant !

Lee J 3rd Mar 2018 21:29

Just out of interest, does anyone know why EZY8902 - the return leg of LGW-GIB (diverted to Malaga) was cancelled today due to "mass disruption on the network". Yet the plane flew back to Gatwick empty despite the majority of passengers being in mid-transit from GIB to AGP.

La Palma

Does anybody on this forum know if Easyjet will be resuming its winter flights to La Palma?

inOban 6th Mar 2018 07:16

February traffic up 4%, load factor up 1%, not including Tegel. 'In line with expectations.'

apaul 7th Mar 2018 02:19

Gatwick to La Palma resumes twice per week on 18 September. Presumably it will also runs in the winter.

Thanks for the feedback, I noticed the break for the summer but it stops again in October. Are Easyjet due to release another tranche of winter flights soon?
