mikkie4 11th Jul 2019 04:58

odd destination,Cant think why Cypriots would want to go to Beirut, Ryan air must have done their home work

Ringwayman 11th Jul 2019 05:37

Did you know there are around 3 flights per day between Larnaca and Beirut? Not such an "odd" destination to launch

sixchannel 11th Jul 2019 07:45

"Holiday" flights? ;-)

yeo valley 11th Jul 2019 07:59

I would think pax loadings would be good both ways.

Actually yes. It might surprise some to hear Beirut is reasonably safe and worth visiting.

Big surprise!
It would have thought it had all the appeal of a holiday in Tripoli.

Ah looks amazing. Always wanted to go. Never forget the stories from older crew talking of Paris of the East

Mr @ Spotty M 15th Jul 2019 05:28

Max

I see that the latest B737 Max to come out of paint no longer has 737 MAX on the nose and has been replaced with 737-8200.

TSR2 15th Jul 2019 17:53

Good move ?

Can see the whole MAX word dropped altogether soon.

Hotel Tango 15th Jul 2019 19:32

Yes, a terrific move!

This is so funny. There's already so much in the media about this rebranding that passengers, bar maybe a few, will know that the 8200 is in fact a MAX. Big waste of time!

c52 15th Jul 2019 22:35

looks like a (local) phone no.

Good move ?
It must be, it was suggested by President Trump!

Starting to realise they won’t be flying this year.

davidjohnson6 16th Jul 2019 08:43

I understand that flight + cabin crew are worked hard over summer with less work in winter (so fewer annual hours used in November), and that aircraft maintenance will likely be weighted towards winter rather than summer - so there is less flying capacity in winter. I realise also that some older aircraft will be exited over time. However, is the fleet really that stretched in winter ?

I always thought that in winter Ryanair had plenty of slack in the system. I don't see Ryanair leasing lots of aircraft over summer 2019, so am wondering if there really will be a severe aircraft shortage over the coming winter. My suspicion is that this is just an excuse to cut some underperforming / loss-making routes

inOban 16th Jul 2019 18:25

A couple of years ago they had to cull flights because they didn't have enough pilots. Now they're saying that they have far too many, according to another press story

G-FORZ 16th Jul 2019 19:33

Anything more than a marketing ploy? “If you want flights next year book early because there won’t be so many” probably a better campaign than “fly on our new 737max .. er 737-8200”. Easy might just be wiping it up with their A320/321 fleet.

They have already stated they are disposing of minimum 10 airframes this financial year.

90% plus of passengers don't know whether it is an Airbus 787 or a Boeing A320. Their safety card tells them something but I have been on an A321 with a A319 safety card.

2Para 17th Jul 2019 12:47

Will be interesting to see how much ezy will have raked in over the summer compared to fr, their neo aircraft apparently 25/30% more efficient than 320/319 fleet, fr must be pissing their pants atm.

But I do. That's why FR off my shopping list a while once the Max's return to service. A year of non MCAS related incidents world wide, and I'll think again.
Happily there's nowhere we currently fly to where FR are sole operator.

Such challenges will lead Ryanair to trim the worst performing parts of their network, and re easyJet, Ryanair are considerably bigger and significantly more profitable. Let's not forget Ryanair can expand through Lauda with Airbus too, so the 737 is the not the only option for the group at the moment ...
