Southside: I think night starts at 23:30 not 00:00 but it underlines the point. 46 x 364 = 16,744. Night movement limit at STN is 13,700 per annum.
Whilst accepting the winter traffic levels will be somewhat lower there is now little or no space for GA.

boeing_eng 7th Jul 2018 10:08

Which is why SEN is seeing a huge increase in night biz-jet traffic. The millions invested in the recently opened Stobart Jet Centre appears to be money well spent.

Southend has a limit of 120 night movements per month between 2300-0630......doesn't seem enough to allow it to turn into Biz central at night!

whitelighter 7th Jul 2018 10:33

Frankly good news. GA is a pain in the arse. Southend are welcome to them

No it won't, and nor should it for the sake of being a good neighbour airport ,however I cannot understand how this lack of night capacity in the London area for bizjet movements has suddenly become such a problem. Was this flagged up a while ago, or did I just miss it.?

Planespeaking:
LHR, LGW and STN have always had a night cap set by the DfT, whilst LTN has a section 106 which limits the number of night movements.
LHR and LGW have always used most of theirs.
In recent years at STN the arrival of Jet2 & increase in Ryanair late night arrivals has used more and more of the spare night capacity available. It results in GA being sidelined.
A similar growth at LTN has seen similar problems develop for GA.
Airlines will apply for season long series of slots and will get priority based on how the slot system works.
As you noted, airports need to be seen as a good neighbour and carefully monitor their slot use so increasingly there won't be much if anything left for GA to use at night.

Not be patronising commit aviation you have summed it up beautifully. Maybe some others might be able to understand the situation now.

Very good numbers for June`18.

2.6m pax for the month = +11.3%.

Rolling 12 months now 26.8m pax.

pamann 12th Jul 2018 09:25

Easyjet to Hurghada twice weekly (Monday & Friday) from 2nd November. :ok:

STN stars again for the wrong reasons. The dreadful and discriminatory service provided to less able passengers has been going on for years. Insufficient and sometimes outrageously rude staff, lack of equipment and a lack of oversight by the airport is ongoing. And now with a new company in town, a preferential service directed their way, presumeably because their management keep the pressure up for the expected service level. Intervention by my mob over the years seems thin or non existent because that would require effort so we continue to wait and wait and wait.........

Frank Gardner the BBC security correspondant has a lot to say about his personal experiences at LHR and LGW. It seems he's been stuck on aircraft many times and still the airport authorities take no notice, so it's not just STN.

Pardubice

Fares on Ryanair's route between Stansted and Pardubice are looking pretty low over the summer, even for flights with less than 2 week's notice. Sure, the flights catering to the people goibg back to Czechia from London over the next 2 weeks look healthy but in the other direction fares are very very low - August looks to have revenues with little or no profit.

Are we perhaps likely to see this route being cut or at least not returning for summer 2019 ?

Do we know how Emirates are doing circa a month in ?

Keanaga 19th Jul 2018 12:45

EK loads.

I'm aware loads are high in the region of 90% each way plus freight.

pamann 19th Jul 2018 15:23

EK

I’ve also heard it won’t be long before it goes twice daily.

southside bobby 20th Jul 2018 15:59

Work has commenced on the new 2,500 space multi-story car park.

Costing £26m with five upper floors for completion May`19.

Emirates are currently in high level talks with MAG over a second daily flight. I have heard MAG are offering to build an Emirates Sky Lounge within SAT 1 if they begin a second daily which is rumoured to be a morning flight.
These are the figures over the last week...
ARR/DEP
13/7 357/342
14/7 349/352
15/7 347/357
16/7 316/357
17/7 219/360
18/7 229/355
19/7 193/358
20/7 293/

Arrivals Load Factor: 93.7%
Departures Lod Factor 100.01%
I think my maths correct ! In a MAG announcement have seen average load factor is 80% weekly !!!

Plus every flight I have seen loading or unloading has had some freight bins or pallets.

I must say I was always confident the route would do well, but this well no, this is amazing. Just shows that Stansted can have a successful long haul route. I personally believe we will have another airline starting or at least an announcing a new long haul route before October.

whitelighter 20th Jul 2018 19:52

The lounge space is all ready to go in sat 1 - just needs fitting out.
It behind a long curved smoked glass wall about halfway down by stands 13 and 12 (sorry don’t know the gates)

it looks big - I wonder if it will all be emirates or if they’ll keep some back for a lounge for other airlines

will it be emirates exclusive or available for other airlines with club/first passengers (BA cityflyer for example)

great news either way about Emirates

pamann 20th Jul 2018 20:20

Two EK’s on the ground tonight. The regular 777-3 plus their 777-2 side by side looking good I must add. Not sure why there’s two?

inOban 20th Jul 2018 20:20

I'm not in the least surprised by the success of EK. STN is not just a London airport, it's the regional airport for a large and prosperous population. My late sister was a great world traveller and would have welcomed not having to get herself to LHR.

Keanaga 20th Jul 2018 20:59

EK

Extra flight in with 47 pax, basically a positioning flight to take Arsenal on pre-season tour maybe as a extra flight back to Dubai on their return
