Some of us fly Ryanair because we live in close proximity to STN. Should we trek to Heathrow because the carrier is perceived as superior? Some of of us pay Ryanair more than £9.99, because we’ve paid for flexibility, booked late or the fare just costs a lot more than that. Some of us fly Ryanair because no one else flies the route from London. Im sure there are other good reasons. |
For the record....
Employees at STN do NOT pay daily commute rates from the outskirts of London. ALL who work on site are very well aware of travel discounts of up to 80% on trains & buses to STN sponsored & managed now by MAG & previously BAA. Stansted Airport Employment & Skills Academy has a permanent presence in Tottenham Job Centre Plus. |

Stansted Weather Disruptions 07 Aug 2018 • 21:49 Due to Thunderstorms being forecasted around Stansted we have cancelled a small number of flights. We expect further delays later tonight and customers can monitor the latest flight information on the Ryanair.com website. All affected customers have been contacted by email and text message and advised of their options: a full refund, rebooking on to the next available flight or transferring to an alternative flight. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this weather disruption, which is entirely beyond our control, and we are working hard to minimise the disruption to our operations. |

Seriously though, if posters are going to post what was written elsewhere, why paraphrase the text rather than copy it word for word? :ok::ugh: |

Sorry carousel ... might you be so kind as to please explain your post (and the significance of your lack of final punctuation mark). Accurate communication is most important in aspects of aviation isn't it? Regardless of the grammar police, the continued bad press that STN is receiving must be of concern to the owners. They are trying to attract new long haul carriers and commensurate business class pax, and the media is full of pictures of the terminal looking like a refugee camp, due to the issues of the largest flight operator from the airport. And that is before all the issues about delays at Border Control, and late arrival of luggage.
I have to say, that at the moment, if I was wanting to fly with Emirates, STN would be last on my list - I'm wondering how long Emirates management will tolerate the bad press that associates with their STN operations, both outgoing and incoming. |
The EK flight isn’t affected as it operates late at night when there are few departures, security is not an issue that time of the evening and you’d have a whole choice of places to park your backside once airside. Granted the arrival of EK is mid afternoon so I’m not sure how the airport fares that time of day with incoming flights. What Stansted needs is another handling agent to add to the mix. Swissport is far too dominant at Stansted and clearly can not cope. Ryanair would be so much better off to go self handling. |
Easyjet add 2 weekly Tel Aviv from November 4th. |

Maybe chance for Jet2 to get into the handling game for other airlines, i bet they'd make a killing of it. At least it would raise a few q's of Swissport

BA had a debacle at LGW and have had to effectively bring their handling in-house due to the collapse of their handling agent Jet2 self handle their own operation to make sure they can have the right degree of control, as soon as they start to handle another carrier, those reigns loosen and the focus on Jet2 ops slips. Depends if they see it as a a cost centre (which it really is) or a profit centre (which it's not). The only killing made in ground handling is to terms and conditions. As for Ryanair, the most cost conscious of them all self handle at Dublin and have done for years. Do they self-handle (ooer missus!!!) anywhere else on the network? |

Particularly on the down times, between the first and second waves, utilising their operation more effiently, with no to minimal impact on their own flights |
Pobeda Schedule:
Evening All Pobeda have now released their schedule for the St Petersburg and Kaliningrad flights. St Petersburg Starts 12-10-18 DP889 LED 10:30 STN 11:55 X246 DP890 STN 12:25 LED 17:40 X246 Kaliningrad Starts 23-10-18 DP859 KGD 12:05 STN 13:45 246 DP860 STN 14:25 KGD 17:50 246 I personally think good flight times. I can imagine Non-EU queue at the border being a bit hectic on the days of the Kaliningrad flight as the Emirates lands at 14:05. But again very happy for a new airline starting to two brand new destinations for the airport. Just hope Stansted can get a out of this dip it’s been in with Ryanair’s ongoing issues over the last couple of months. |
New Route
Primeria add a limited STN-KEF schedule from December. 2 Flights in Dec 1 Flight in Jan 1 weekly (Sun) from Feb |
Good to see some hard news above...
Primera to KEF appears to continue weekly (Sun) thru March`19 too. First Wideroe Kristiansand service in the screens for PM arrival. |
Positive news continues...
Rolling 12 months figures puts STN just marginally shy of the 27m total. July totals = 2,772,044 + 7.4% for that rolling 12 monthly figure of 26,990,062. Busiest July ever. Cargo in positive territory too this month & against a worldwide trend at the moment. July total = 22,141 tonnes + 4.5%. Overall best performer by a large margin in terms of pax growth for MAG on the month. |
Spotted a vehicle today with " Blue Handling" livery, Any info on who these are and intentions at Stansted?
|
Excellent figures considering the ''problems' over the last few weeks mostly not the airport's fault.
