I think BA are still catching up from all of yesterdays cancellations etc getting the long haul on track then sorting out the Feeders. Not sure about the Diversions seems to be 2 Easterns diverted, 2 cancelled and a Flybe Divert. Was foggy a bit at 5pm when i left but its been worse the past few days.

Does any one know what this BA1234 is all about ?

nclops 14th Feb 2008 00:32

Diverts were due to the fog.

dmdrewitt 14th Feb 2008 07:05

We did a Cat IIIA autoland coming back in at 8pm

RVR was 400m with cloud base of 100 feet, so that's why any Cat I aircraft (eg J41) diverted.

I see that the car park is going to be resurfaced, but it will mean us relocating to car park L. I must thank the chap who came round with a petition a few weeks ago.

Channex101 14th Feb 2008 15:52

Its about bloody time, that car park is a p*ss take really?! The passengers wouldnt put up with it, so why should we?

757 Speedbrakes 14th Feb 2008 16:44

Hooragh!!

About bloody time, than all they need to do is put up a card reader at the entrance to stop passengers parking there and we're laughing!!!! :D

Jamesair 14th Feb 2008 17:12

Does anybody know the seating capacity and layout of the Emirates "low density" aircraft that has been substituted a few times over the last month on the Dubai service?..will make a difference to the load factor for January.

lukeylad 14th Feb 2008 19:08

Come on folks if a few pot holes in the staff car park is all youve got to complain about then some of us need to get a life!

Ah crap..... I forgot to cancel it!!!

They might be just a few 'pot holes' nclflights but when you've got 18" low profile alloys and an only a few inch's clearence they feel like the bloody Grand Canyon!!

Have things changed or do staff parking passes still cost money?
You might not be paying for it yourself but unless things have changed (and can I really believe that the Airport would forego such a revenue stream?) then your employer is paying for your privelege.

Way back in the mid 90's I seem to recall that it was about £200/year so goodness lnows what it is today.

from the Chronicle website:

AIRLINE Lufthansa says it has had a record-breaking year for passengers travelling from the North East. More than 20,000 people flew from Newcastle International Airport in 2007, up almost 25% on the year before.

And Lufthansa manager for the UK and Ireland Marianne Sammann says the airline may develop its presence in the North East in the future.

She said: “We doubled the number of flights to Dusseldorf from Newcastle in the autumn last year and we already see a difference. Newcastle is a very good base for future growth. We have to see how things progress in the summer but it looks optimistic. So far we have been able to manage with the staff we have but this may change if we continue to grow at Newcastle. We are looking to create links through Dusseldorf to fly to destinations all over the world. Our passenger growth out of Newcastle has been exceptional for the past two years. It proves huge numbers of travellers still want the added value they receive from a full service airline. There is no doubt that the introduction of our second daily service to Dusseldorf is a major factor in the record figures. It arrives in Dusseldorf just after noon, freeing up the afternoon for either business meetings or sightseeing.”

EK Figures for January

12597 at average of 203 pax per flight and 73% load factor

In fact the load factor was probably higher as acarsd shows some
low density 332's were used during the month.

LH

Most regional airports get these LH PR's at least once a year, I remember EDI having one recently and BHX.

Mind you with BRS getting three a day Frankfurt you would think
that is one route NCL would be targeting as well and logically LH's next
Frankfurt destination from the UK (slot willing).

I was going to say... does the fact that £80 per pass not help, and the fact that your employer does actually pay for its staff to use the car park.
Speaking of staff car park, Car park L is the new staff car park, it has lovely views of amble and kielder since its about a 50mile hike away from the terminal, for those of u who will be doing the trek up to the car park at 4am on a regular basic, extension 100 from the bus stop will be a hand number to keep at hand!!!

Emirates-Load factor

Interesting figures from Pete.....my reliable contact tells me B777-200 from February next year.

Sounds to me that LH is a little worried now that BE wants to fly from NCL to frankfurt and stuggart will LH get in there before BE??

How do you make that out? LH seem to be concentrating on providing onward links - what will BE provide?

Channex101 16th Feb 2008 22:23

Flybe advertsing for NCL based senior crew so a base is deffo happening then
