Flybe are probably looking to park all their crewless aircraft somewhere, that's all.

:}

HH6702 24th May 2007 19:11

I think there is a big enough market for jet2/easyjet/flybe and ryanair to expand at ncl. even GSM doing a few more long haul routes

noiseabatement 25th May 2007 18:05

Routes & airlines.

Yes, I think there is more scope for expansion at EGNT - but then again it's down to space in the short term.

Jet2's LS532 from Palma (due Newcastle 15.00hrs) diverted to Leeds/Bradford - another bus trip for the pax, "operational reasons" again.. ?

fl dutchman 25th May 2007 19:18

Jet 2 operational reasons

Hope there not going to do an Easyjet Summer 2006 or something similar. Perhaps a couple of isolated problems?? Hope so.

Expansion. There is probably room for expansion, but please let it be to somewhere new and not routes operated already by another carrier.

crewboi83 25th May 2007 22:17

Fingers x just a one off, altho I did hear titan are comming in 2moro with their 757 to help out. Not sure but think AE has been on maintenance, and then AC stuck AOG in AGP didnt help. Few probs with the 73 fleet as well so thinks have been hard work but they seem to be getting there.
At least its not a FJE style delay!

Jet2 problems

Using a Titan 757 to MJV this morning.

NCL1 26th May 2007 08:59

jet2

jet2 always seem to be delayed at the moment, wouldn't comment on fje's delays if i worked for jet2!:ugh:

Defo agree that we need something new at NCL, preferably charters looking into more long haul destinations please, lets get an all year SFB and Cancun's!!! :)

noiseabatement 26th May 2007 12:35

Jet2

Good forward planning by Jet2 to lease in the Titan 757, a lot of airlines do not bother when an aircraft goes tech, or is delayed elsewhere.

Of course this will be a one-off, usually lasts a couple of days max. Nobody could ever match the delays of 2 years ago with Excel and the 767 on the Orlando/Dominican/Orlando...

We all could list numerous routes to start form EGNT, I am sure the charter end of the operation could be a little more imaginative. The Canary Islands are a 12 month operation which everybody will always operate. I am sure there is a market across "The Pond" :D :D

lukeylad 26th May 2007 23:10

I dont see why people are having a dig at Jet2 for been late all the time. It happens to most airlines. The summer season is getting into Gear now for Jet2 and there working the best they can. Now i know it isn't helped with aircraft been tech but hey thats life.

My point been dont knock them when its clear there trying there best.

noiseabatement 27th May 2007 00:17

Jet2

:)

I do not actually see anybody having a dig at Jet2 for "being late all the time", nor is it any sort of constructive critiscism, merely remarking about their forward planning leasing in the ZAP 757, which I think is positive comment. Perfection does not exist in the airline industry, or in avaition as a whole.

Things went badly for EZY the other week through no fault of their own, so they raked up 2 spare 737's from Luton and sent them up to Newcaslte to cover late flights, a lot of praise was passed EZY's way via this forum. I think this could be the status quo in future. I, as well as many pruners remember the days when a Dan Air 732 went tech then that was it - flight cancelled..... catch the same flight next week if there is room!

ash666 27th May 2007 08:10

Why not if their best isn't good enough? As PAX they have already told me my flights will be taking off later than when I booked meaning a very late arrival now, and getting back after all public transport has finished, and they are running up to 3 hours late on top of that. It's the first and last time I will use Jet2, back to EZY for me.

NCL1 27th May 2007 09:39

GSM?

No delays showing as of yet of the GSM - Hamilton - could this be the first week we see an on time departure? Fingers crossed - they haven't had much luck so far :)

ash666 27th May 2007 10:40

I see LS531 to Palma is delayed from 11.15 to 16.30:*

Imagine having a business with double digit percentage growth year on year, profits increasing year on year but not being able to access commercial banking loans?? To say that previous management were frustrated, JB the FD in particular, is a tad of an understatement.
Now that these restrictions have been lifted there is a lot of catch-up to do.

I was at NCL shortly after the enforced incorporation after the 87 act, which brought in the borrowing restrictions and I left before the councils sold off a controlling share in NIAL - so I'm happy to be corrected. But, as I recall groundhand, the change came at NCL not because the rules were changed but because the owners of NIAL eventually accepted the rules and sold off a controlling interest - allowing NIAL to access commercial loans. These rules didn't change in 1997, BTW. JB was frustrated by many things. An unexpected large payment to the PTE for the Metro extension would be one, including the massive cost for the, IMHO, pointless road bridge when it should've been left on the old line so it could've gone on to Pont. An underestimate (compared to the tenders) of magnificent proportions of the cost of a runway resurfacing would be another. If NIAL was strapped for cash, why did the owners distribute profits?

Anyway, all history - glad to see 5M exceeded - we were pretty impressed with 2M.

Hamilton.

NCL1:

Good to see GSM to Hamilton left us with slightly over an hours delay :D

Actually witnessed her climbing out over Wideopen as I left the Co-op! :ooh:

Not sure of the reasons behind Jet2's late departure for the Palma flight (LS531)

crewboi83 27th May 2007 17:36

Jet2 only have 1 757 operating a 2 aircraft programme.
G-LSAC is currently AOG in AGP with engine failure, engine due to be replaced 2moro so should be back in service tue to wed.
G-LSAE was sent to MAN to help out (Altho i dont know why! not fair really to annoy NCL pax when its MAN that had the problem)
But thats it really! should be back on track by mid next week fingers X

Jet2 & Air Berlin

Crewboi83:

Cheers for that update! :ok: All will be OK in a couple of days.

Heard a classic "rumour" last night, some people who I consider to be in "the know" were discussing Air Berlin and 3 possible routes into/out of Newcastle.

I aint got a clue where Air Berlin have bases, but again if there is any fact in this it only bodes well for Newcastle. :D

Jamesair 28th May 2007 11:45

Could be something in it, an earlier post reported a visit by Air Berlin executives to the airport.

DONTTELLTHEPAX 28th May 2007 12:03

AirBerlin are looking to expand in the Uk,
any new UK route will be into their STN hub,
look out EZY:E.

HH6702 28th May 2007 19:13

Air Berlin

Dont think STN will be in there plans.
Easyjet have 5 flights a day to STN if AB were to go on the route they would only have 2 flights aday. Some of EZY flights are only half full and i dont think that AB would be able to get the right slots at STN.

The routes which Air Berlin will do from NCL will be SXF,CGN,MUC
I could be wrong but these are the mot likely.

They have a codeshare with HLX so they may even take over the hannover
