Well it's over a week now, more than ample time for 'Hughie and the boys' to recover from their Scandinavian beano:8, so what now ? or is it back to the usual pile of sand to bury their heads until the next piece of news, or bit of spin, forces at least one of them back into the public domain ?:yuk:

The majority of pax on the Wizz flights are from our area. We definitely have a larger amount of Polish people in the area, hence why there's a Polish page in the Northern Echo.

Word on the street is that theres nothing coming out of the big conference, other than a couple of cases of indigestion.Allegedley The Director didn't show up.........................

There is a large Polish/East European community in Carlisle/SW Jockland who can access NCL more easily than MME. Is this the market they are trying to take from MME/MAN/PIK?

It saddens me as a Teesside lad that the direct comms to MME are poor and will always be poor due to a pathetic rail service provided by Northern Rail. Equally the local councils seem to think that a free bus service from Darlington will attract punters.

MME, I am afraid, will always be marginalised and will have to draw their passengers from the local area. This is not the catchment area that is often promulgated but the local area. Boro, Stockton, Billingham, Yarm, Redcar et al.... Even Sunderland has a Metro link to NCL.

I am not happy about this as I like flying from MME but the airlines will only concentrate flights from there that they know will be profitable and if there are other options that bring more yield then they will go that way. It does not make good reading but as our favourite profession says...

Location, Location, Location.

:ouch::ouch:

I Agree, the Bus service should be more than Darlington!

Im going to be making a few visits to the airport in a few weeks and was looking at Bus journeys from middlesbrough and more or less all of them change in stcokton

Why not just call it Darlington Int airport !

Why not just call it Darlington Int airport !
or why not simply 'Teesside' it certainly attracted more pax in those days:E

mmeteesside 6th Oct 2007 11:56

The bus from Middlesbrough is the hourly number 20 which runs via Stockton and Yarm although rumours are Middlesbrough and Stockton are to get an hourly SkyExpress service when the Darlo one goes hourly from 21st October (currently half hourly).

Luke0705 6th Oct 2007 11:56

I Know i Think the road signs agree too !

The majority have now been changed.

road signs Teesside Airport

Which majority are you looking at? The majority I see are still Teesside as are most of the departure boards in foreign airports. Durham Tees Valley is almost as bad as Robin Hood International..neither of them are what they say on the tin

DTVAirport 7th Oct 2007 09:57

The signs nearest the airport and around Darlington have mostly been changed, and I've seen some around Middlesbrough that have been too. It could be years though before the departure screens of foreign airports change.

Work experience

Hey my nephew is wanting some work experience within the airport, Was just wanting to know who he should contact ei. the airport , Aviance ?

Thanks in advance :)

mmeteesside 7th Oct 2007 16:25

Give the airport a shout but not sure if they take on work experience students. Also try Servisair, Aviance, Midwest (doubt they'll do it but worth a try), Northern Aviation and St George Flight Training. TNT (Engineering) could also be worth a try.

Bartrams 7th Oct 2007 18:10

ERM...!!!!

This is (correct me of I am wrong) a rumour network??

As much as I wholeheartly agree with works experience and postings of similar nature..as we all have to learn and obtain experience??

Road signs, buses and traintimes are i am afraid a picture of the current state of DTV.Its more like a low cost, second rate airport do aviation activites actually happen here anymore??

Can we not have please...some positive news about what is actuallty going on??

DTVAirport 7th Oct 2007 19:53

I heard Mr Lang himself checks this very thread, how often I don't know, but the reason why, so I'm told, is to find out what is going on at his own airport!

I certainly believe he checks this thread, but I wouldn't blame people for refusing to believe why he checks it, although those who know Durham Tees Valley would probably not be surprised if it ever proved true!

Apparantly he openly admits to his staff he comes on here.

N707ZS 7th Oct 2007 21:21

Hugh Lang could be anyone of the poster's on here.

I have seen his staff reading "Air North" magazine to find out whats going on at Newcastle.

The Aviance base manager at Teesside also reads the post on here.

Just a bit more useless information to lengthen the thread.

News

Bad News- Seems like Wizz goes down to 2 a week for a couple of weeks at the end of November/start of December. No Tuesday flight.

Good News! Flyglobespan to Paphos from April 08, Wednesday afternoon flight. :D

N707ZS 9th Oct 2007 07:10

Bad news or good sense, who really wants to go to Warsaw in November/December. What's thar saying about a brass monkey!

Paphos, sounds like a job for a 738 so either a W or based aircraft I presume.

DTVAirport 9th Oct 2007 07:47

That's gotta be a based aircraft! Expect more routes I would say!

So the Wizz is reducing for two weeks? But hey, what's two weeks? Not too bothered about that one, but I'll certainly be keeping a close eye on it.
