"Clearly GSM or DTV? are not up for ( possibly incompotent?:E) for the fight for market share in the more difficult winter months." or is it a case of not throwing good money after bad? GSM are not a charity - get some reality into your view of where the DTV market may be. Why do you think that GSM should operate unprofitable routes? are you prepared to fly this route several times over the winter? had you booked to show your support? if not, why not? The 'fight', as you put, it is long over for W07/08. Interested parties for route development for W08/09 - step up now and show your cash. GH |
It's a B733 based this Winter apparantly by the way.

Thanks HeathrowDictator. We just need a few more CATs now, the ILS type and not the two legged, there are to many of them in managment!:ouch:
I noticed that the fireschools new toy is growing. MD-11 rear and wings with A380 front end, full scale. |

Whoaa, just looked at next years full packages from MME with globespan
I could probably get a Traditional Thomson etc. holiday Cheaper than the prices there asking for ! It actualy winds me up ! There dropping routes due to low loads but There prices are sky high ! Then comparing it to an Jet2 from NCL/LBA its Miles cheaper:ugh: Grr. |
At the moment GSM have a B733 down as being based at MME, however may now be a B73G, now that ABZ doesn't have a based aircraft.
|
Scotsunflyer,
Forgive my ignorance, but since I only talk to the pilots of the aircraft and don't do spotting - what is a B73G in terms of passengers loads vs B733 and B736? I guess the G is for New Generation? In which case would I be right in thinking that would be a B737/B738/B739? Like I say, please forgive my ignorance, I'm curious to know as it will be a reasonable indicator as to how well/bad the product is selling for the winter. -HD- |
73G = 737-700
1 more seat than a 737-300 and about 20 more than a 737-600 :E Hope that helps |
bmi regional
Recently booked a flight to LHR from LBA (I know disloyal to MME but their fri night flight didn't get into LHR until after 23.00hr) and have been told it will be an embraer 145-didnt realise they were doing this at LBA as well as MME??
As for GSM, I think we have to be realistic as to the level of commitment they will offer us. We're not in the same league as LBA and NCL and I for one would far rather see tailor made 3x weekly flights to destinations that are popular and sustainable than daily flights going out daily and then complete pull outs by the airline concerned. Atleast FR, GSM and T3 are showing perserverance at MME and are cutting their cloth rather than pulling the rug completely!! |
A post has just appeared on the DTVA Yahoo Group which I run, it says that surveyors are "on or around" the runway tonight, might we actually see some development work at long last???
|
Hi MME4eva:
In regarding LBA-LHR Route bmi regional's Embrear aircraft only operate the following LBA-Heathrow flights BD421/BD422 Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays BD411/412/413 Saturday & Sundays BD418 Sundays BD420 Saturdays All other weekday and weekend sectors are operated with Airbus A319 or the A320's |

Wizz Air
Just a general question regarding WIZZ, does anyone know how happy they are at MME. I have it from a reliable source that the WIZZ management have been at NCL in the last couple of weeks. I cant imagine they are going to operate from two airports close to each other. Could it be they are considering a move up the A19 soon and switching the Warsaw service or am I putting two and two together and comming up with 5?
Thanks for any information MME folks have on this one. |
Can't see why they would move, load factors here are high, as far as I know they're doing well.
|
I would have thought the Peel connections would play a part here
|
As far as I've heard, the Wizz has been doing extremely well - having checked with the handling agents last week on one service there were approx 130 on the inbound, and approx 115 on the outbound which is fantastic!
Regarding the surveying - it is an AGL (Aerodrome Ground Lighting) survey...not sure exactly what they are looking for/at but needless to say I doubt it has anything to do with south side development. -HD- |
Wizz's current inflight magazine gives airport infromation for all it's current destinations. What's weird is that they explain in detail how to get from Newcastle airport to Newcastle city centre, but there is no mention of MME anywhere in the publication.
Glitch? |
Wizz Air
What I have been told is that pax figures from MME or excellent however they have looked at the demographics of folks using the route and most pax are either originating or finishing their journey at Newcastle. This leads me to believe that what they are worried about is someone stepping in with a route direct from NCL to Warsaw and taking alot of the pax base.
|
Entirely unrelated I'm sure, but there are lots more hotels, and hotel jobs in the Newcastle Area than there are at Teesside:ok:
|
Correct Carbheathot...entirely unrelated! :p
