Kavs8 24th Apr 2010 22:00

I think a ORK-PRG route or ORK-BUD is highly likely within 2010.

Wizz: Luton/Katowice - cancelled 3 new flights and opened 1 new from Luton on 6.00 am

In Poland now are more speculations about cancelled three new flights from Katowice (with WizzAir 5th new A320 from end of march this year)

1. to Hamburg Lubeca,
2. to Pisa Galileo,
3. to Bergen.

all flights will cancelled in near two weeks.

From 4 new routes only to Madrid Barajas will not cancelled at this moment..(no competitors with FR from Cracow to Madrid)?? maybe...

Hmmm...new flights from London Luton to Split (restart route 2006/2007 year?) is normally...but schedule is from..6.00 an(London time) to Split will be for Wizz firstly night stop in his history...?:)

so

these two events are/can be linked

The true is that schedule is from 18th june to cirka 25 september 2010 (season), but when Wizz was opened new base in Kiev (11 june 2008) he was also took 1 A320 from Gdansk to Ukraina...something is in the air....:)maybe London Luton air.....:)

Also will be interesting future of "W" rotations: "? - LTN - RIX - LTN - ?"

Now, this rotations doing A320 from Katowice. After opened new routes to Belgrad, schedule is similiar and these rotations move this A320 from Katowice...and will be mistery what will be with this actually route...
good idea will be new route...LTN - RIX - LTN but not with "W" rotations, but normal route:)
Next few days will come short answer about this.
Regards from Warsaw!

DUB

When are we going to see them in DUB???

EC-ILS 25th Apr 2010 09:57

Wizz wont be coming to DUB,they and Ryanair seem to have a respect for each other and seem to stay out of each others way.

I think a ORK-PRG route or ORK-BUD is highly likely within 2010.
Wizz announced this week an extra aircraft for Budapest, unfortunately a new route BUD-ORK did not come into the equation, instead they'll use this new aircraft to reintroduce Hahn and Bari and to increase frequencies on 6 other routes:
  • London Luton
  • Brussels Charleroi
  • Eindhoven
  • Malmö
  • Turku
  • Bourgas

This was a golden opportunity to introduce Budapest - Cork but Wizz seem to have their priorities elsewhere, and new routes for Cork remain far from their radar.

en2r 25th Apr 2010 14:29

What about SNN? Do you think they will ever come too Shannon?
I'd doubt it. Wizzair already operate 5 routes from Cork (to Gdansk, Katowice, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw) and have a complete monopoly on Cork-Poland (Ryanair Shannon to Wroclaw is their only competition on Munster to Poland). They have been building up a profile in Cork over the past 4 years so I'd imagine any Irish expansion by them will be at Cork. Launching services at Shannon would only dilute yields at Cork and I can't see them doing that given the weakening of the Ireland to Poland market.

WizzAir at London Luton - possibly move..

WizzAir at London Luton...

Today Natasha Kazmer - Communication and PR Manager WizzAir say that WizzAir not give 3rd A320 this summer to Prague Ruzyne (because the airport fees are to high - like FR yestarday:))...

and

also say that 5th A320 for Katowice (from 27th march 2010) will stay at the Katowice Airport.

Hmmm...

it's a little strange, because 3 new flights will cancelled (Pisa, Bergen, Hamburg Lubecca), and professional airlines in Europe (WizzAir now is in this group) when the high season is comming, wants more flights, no grounded aircraft at the airport..

So, I think saw that Katowice 5th A320 will be relocate at London Luton for 3 summer months.

Natasha Kazmer yestarday saw, that WizzAir have a "diffrent opinion" about cheap airport fees at KAT airport, and I think saw, "Luton base - for summer" it will be also one of more arguments for negotiations about agreement WizzAir - Katowice Airport (largest base for Wizz, actually:)) and future in this WizzAir base.

Now, we know that speculations about "london's Luton air" are true, and WizzAir next move can be very interesting...:-)

Firstly:

If, one of two A320 WizzAir Ukraina after small "crashed" at Kiev Borispol (at the and of december 2009) will be now finish and can now again flying - we have one "free" A320 for move WizzAir,

secondly:

If, in contrast with what Mrs Natasha Kazmer say yesterday, about: "5th A320 for Katowice stay at polish Siliesian Region", this aircraft will fly to London Luton - we will be have two "A320".

and

ad.1.
are very possibly in near future:

"W" pattern KAT-LTN-RIX-LTN, 2/4/6 can change for LTN-RIX-LTN,

sources: new flights: KAT - LTN - BEG - LTN -KAT is in the same time like
actually KAT - LTN - RIX - LTN - KAT rotations.
Something must be changes (one aircraft from KAT this doing).

ad.2.
new routes: LTN - VNU (Vilnius) - LTN, 2/3 weekly
LTN - TLL (Tallin) - LTN, 2 weekly,
LTN - LCJ (ŁóDŹ, Poland) -LTN - 3/4 weekly

all for one A320.

If will be also second A320,

can we will see:
more Italian cities:

LTN - Milano Bergamo - LTN - minimum 4 weekly, (no competitors FR/easy)
LTN - Roma Fiumicino - LTN - minimum 3/4 weekly, (no comp. FR/easy)
LTN - PSA Galileo - LTN - 2/3 weekly,(no comp. FR/easy)
LTN - Bologna Forli - 2 weekly, (no comp. FR/easy)

and Spain (only one cities is there with no direct Easyjet.com and Ryanair.com - this is Valencia Manises - WizzAir flight there from 4 cities (3 in Romania, one in Bulgaria),

LTN - VLC - LTN - 3 weekly,

and in my opinion next cities for WizzAir - Portugal,

LTN - OPO - LTN - 2/3 weekly (also FR and Easy not fly there).

It could be for Eastern Europe with "management strategies" good idea for WizzAir - "little HUB" for WizzAir in Western Europe, because big is in London Stansted for FR, and London Gatwick for Easyjet.

Maybe will be good move!

Also, is interesting news and initially speculations about initially cancelled base in Warsaw for Norwegian.no and move to Finnland (Helsinki)...

hmm..it will be also very important for WizzAir and WAW/and/or/Luton plans, because WizzAir can maybe wants add 5th A320 for Warsaw (example from winter season 2010), and slowly realising plans for Luton...but in this year they can takes 5 or 6 new A320, from july to december 2010, and in contrast Easyjet can take near 10-12 A319/320 and FR can take near 14-18...B738-800 it could be too much... for WizzAir and his ambitions plans.....:-)

Didn't get it. You mean Wizz would move to Finland? If so, I don't think HEL would be their choice, it's too expensive (at least FR says so).

Edit: I guess you refer to Kjoss and his [Norwegian's] expansion plans. In that case, HEL would be rather obvious location.

It is flying already.

TBSC 29th Apr 2010 17:27

Nice batch of quesses, SZAS. :ok:
Who knows what ill happen :), things are changing quite quickly. E.g. today Ryanair announced that they will abandon BUD from the end of summer season.

alm1 30th Apr 2010 05:49

What about further expansion in Riga? I see it less likely now when Wizz Air canceled Riga-Turku. And Riga-Oslo has fares less than 10 eur for most days even in summer.

pee 21st May 2010 12:42

From Finavia's press release:

Wizz Air has discontinued its flights on the Turku–Riga route, and flights on the Turku–Warsaw route will end on 29 May. However, Wizz Air will open a new route from Tampere to Gdansk, Poland on 13 June.

The flights from Turku to Budapest and Gdansk will continue as usual. A new weekly flight will be added on the Budapest route later in the summer, bringing the number of flights per week to three.

Finavia is negotiating with Wizz Air on new routes.

wizzair hiring

Does anyone know if wizz will be hiring pilots in the near future? I heard a rumor that they are starting to. As well, would a type rating be necessary in order to be considered.

thanks

Wizzaird 28th May 2010 17:16

Short answer is that there is no hiring at present. Might start again in a few months. Type rating required if you are non-Eastern European local.

I'm afraid you rumour is about 6 months too late as a big hiring drive has just finished!

:\

WATABENCH 28th May 2010 18:27

Anyone know why Wizz have dropped BRS-WAW so quickly after announcing it?
